Taking to Instagram Monday night (January 31), India stunned her 929,000 followers when she revealed her music will no longer be streamable on Spotify.

“I have decided to pull my music and podcast from Spotify,” she wrote. “Neil Young opened a door that I MUST walk through. I believe in freedom of speech. However, I find Joe Rogan problematic for reasons OTHER than his Covid interviews… FOR ME ITS ALSO HIS language around race. What I am talking about is RESPECT – who gets it and who doesn’t.”

As referenced in her quote, legendary musician Neil Young was the first to make headlines after he publicly declared he wanted his tunes lifted from the streaming giant due to Rogan’s podcast intentionally spreading ‘misinformation’ about the global health crisis and vaccines.  Once his announcement made headlines last week, Joni Mitchell followed suit.

On Sunday (January 30), Rogan said he had “no hard feelings towards Neil Young and definitely no hard feelings towards Joni Mitchell.”  Spotify also acknowledged the hoopla via an official statement.

With India.Arie now aboard the movement, it’s anticipated even more performers will sign up to take their music from Spotify – not only in protest of Rogan’s show but also to challenge what have been dubbed ‘unfair treatment and payment’ to artists.  Sources are reporting Spotify stock has plummeted as a result of the fallout, costing them billions in the process.

In her IG post, Arie also touched on the latter topic.

This is the second time in as many months the ‘I Am Not My Hair’ singer has called out the music industry.  Click here to read her fiery rant in which she deemed the business to be ‘racist’ and ‘sexist.’

Gurl, u wouldn’t be missed tho. Nobody cares about u.
Remember when she tried to touch gaga at the Grammys and security pushed her away. Lol

She’s such a flop and unknown yet she’s a platinum selling Grammy Award winning artist. Make that make sense. The losers y’all stan manipulate the charts and couldn’t sell one million pure sales if their p**** selling lives depended on it.

    • Shayla Queen™ 👑 February 1, 2022

A whole 20 years ago… Nobody remembers this flop.

      • Cnote February 1, 2022

Doesn’t matter when it was! She has experienced SUCCESS in her career. Success as a non sexual, dark skin, natural haired neo-soul/inspirational/acoustic artist at that! Any other time y’all throwing around awards and falsified stats but it doesn’t apply to India? Bull s***. Where are your accolades? Did ThatGrapeJuice award you for being the worst troll?????😂😂😂

    • Barbs wire February 1, 2022

@Gonote lol. You act like you have at least a copy of her cd from BMG in your basement. Seriously lol

    • stan February 1, 2022

she may not have been the biggest artist in the world, but she’s made her mark and to say otherwise is deceptive. she’s had gold and platinum records. she’s won a handful of awards. half of the new artists covered on here can’t even say that they’re constantly working.

    • DioraCouture February 1, 2022

      @cnote…TRUE… that second reply about

  7. Hansel February 1, 2022

She is so full of herself. Spotify doesn’t care. Not like anyone was streaming your boring flop music anyway. India Arie is literally a nobody.

    • Cnote February 1, 2022

A “nobody” with platinum and gold plaques and four Grammy awards. I wish I was that kind of nobody! You’re loser ass is a nobody with nothing! 😂😂😂

  8. Are You Kidding Me? February 1, 2022

No shade, but doesn’t India need those streams? It’s giving Black woman who stood up for trans at Netflix and got let go. Mind our Black business

    • Gurlbye February 1, 2022

You punks either didn’t read or can’t comprehend her full position on Joe Rogan’s problematic statements on race and Spotify paying him millions while artists make a fraction of a penny in royalties.

      • AyJay February 1, 2022

That’s because the people who comment on this site are idiots. F****** baffoons with no sense. India was one of the faces of the 2000’s neo-soul era. She came and peaked during that era like most artists do naturally. With that being said she still has a fanbase and is able to tour and release music HER WAY. At one point she was mentioned alongside Alicia keys who also PEAKED 10 years ago. We should celebrate our artists at every point of their careers instead of tearing them down.

She’s correct & the gag is ppl whom agree with the Science are still supporting Spotify even tho their loyalty is w/ Rogan. At some point, ppl need to realize they’re money is going toward Corporations whom do NOT support their best interests.

India is a woman who place value on respect. And when you do this, ppl cannot fugg you over. She’s always been 10 steps ahead in the industry. Most of these women who speak on female empowerment are in bed with misogynistic men OR depending on them to elevate their career. See Doja Cat

BUT she’s suppose to be that b*tch, right?? lol

The jokes indeed write themselves over & over again.

    • True Tea February 1, 2022

      Their* money

  10. Makal February 1, 2022

India’s music is straight up healing for the mind, body and soul. ✨ Spotifys loss!
