MONICA MIGUEL THAT GRAPE JUICE Hot Shots: Monica Hits The Studio With Miguel

If you know anything about Monica, you’ll know she’s actually incapable of making a bad album.

Corny? Perhaps.

Factual? No doubt.

Indeed, while her latest effort ‘New Life’ wasn’t as strong as 2009′s ‘Still Standing’, the ‘So Gone’ vocalist stands in the unique position of seeing all of her LPs receive critical acclaim, even when they are unable to do so commercially.

Now, as to ensure ‘Life‘s follow up surpasses her prior efforts, she has enlisted ‘Use Me’ singer Miguel to help craft the project, as seen in snaps released to fans today.

Weigh In: Who Is This Generation’s Vocal Bible?

brandymonica e1330646945386 Weigh In: Who Is This Generations Vocal Bible?

Let’s face it…

The turn of the century has unfortunately been accompanied by an under-appreciation of true vocalists.  Veritably, it has been clear to see that as production technology has increased its ability, inversely, quality vocal performances have decreased.

Turn on the radio today and you will be assaulted by an abundance of autotune, so much so one may question if he/she is listening to real people or The Transformers…

Weigh In: 2013 Grammy Nomination Snubs & Surprises

fed453e3d868f73e42b8d09ed7833403 Weigh In: 2013 Grammy Nomination Snubs & Surprises

As evidenced by the rant of ‘Believe’ beau Justin Bieber‘s manager, it’s pretty safe to say that some camps are still up-in-arms about the 2013 Grammy nominations unveiled last night.

Indeed, every year sees some scorned team or artist supporter feel “cheated” due to an absence from the nominations tally (see: Jill Scott’s rant last year), but this year marks a noted difference in that  A) the male domination of categories, B) the absence of hip-hop and R&B from major categories, and C) the glaring, 2011-instated removal of “gender-specific” categories.

With only acts who released material from September 1, 2011 to September 30, 2012 eligible for consideration, the wealth of overlooked talent is earning a collective side-eye from many-a-music lover.  Just ask fans of Brandy & Monica‘s ‘It All Belongs To Me’, Mary J. Blige, Lana Del Rey, Madonna,  and, of course, Nicki Minaj & Justin Bieber
