Mya On ‘Dancing With The Stars’ Week 8

The multi-talented Mya has been doing her thing on ABC’s ‘Dancing With The Stars’ for 8 straight weeks. Along with her partner Dmitry, she has managed to consistently remain on top of the judges’ scoreboards and maintain the audiences’ favour. Watch Mya and Dmitry completely slay the Quickstep (above) and the Samba (below)!

Mya On ‘Dancing With The Stars’ Week 7

Check out Mya’s performance during the 7th Week of competition on ‘Dancing With The Stars.’ The sultry singer danced the Foxtrot with her partner Dmitry and basically floored the judges (with the exception of Len Goodman, the token hater). I hope she has space on her mantle next to her Grammy Award (bet you forgot she had one!) because that trophy is as good as hers! Go team!

The Best You Never Heard: Sugababes, Michelle Williams, Monica & Amerie

best+u+never+heard The Best You Never Heard: Sugababes, Michelle Williams, Monica & Amerie

After almost a year-long hiatus, The Best You Never Heard returns this week featuring lesser known cuts by the Sugababes, Michelle Williams, Monica and Amerie. Do you have any suggestions for future instalments? Drop me an email at sam@thatgrapejuice.net

Sugababes – My Love Is Pink

While everyone and their mum seems to have hopped aboard the Electro-Pop/R&B bandwagon recently, the Sugababes were ahead of the pack – as evidenced by their 2007 LP ‘Change’. Filled with dance-floor destined hits, the album also served up the Brian Higgins produced ‘My Love Is Pink’. This one can be best described as Electro-Pop with a slice of R&B and a dash of funk. Great track

Michelle Williams – Thank You

Lifted from Michelle Williams’ ‘Unexpected’ album from 2008, ‘Thank You’ continues to stand as one of my all-time favourites from the Destiny’s Child star. Though the bulk of the album had a vested interest in the Dance genre, it was this smooth, melodic, cleverly written R&B mid-tempo which struck a cord with me most (a sign, perhaps?). Michelle’s voice compliments the production beautifully and the song’s unique take on oft-engaged topic of ‘thank you for making me who I am’ was refreshing. Songs in the vein of this are what I’d personally love to hear from Michelle. You?

Monica – Hell No

Monica released her ‘Makings of Me’ album back in 2006, only for it to sell triple copper (you get the point) after the tanking of first single ‘Everytime The Beat Drops’. Unfortunately, this meant gems such as ‘Hell No’ went largely unnoticed. Produced by Brian-Michael Cox and featuring Twista, the song goes hard. In classic B.Cox fashion, the cut is a mid-tempo with that ‘knock’. What’s more, Monica, as with most of her offerings, sings the so much conviction that you FEEL what she’s singing – something oh-so-missing in many of today’s hits.

Amerie – Crazy Wonderful

The seemingly ever-underrated Amerie delivered IMO one the best and most consistent R&B efforts with her non-US released 3rd LP ‘Because I Love It’. Of the many stand-out tracks featured on the set, ‘Crazy Wonderful’ rears it’s single-worthy head that much higher than the rest. A whimsical slice of 80′s New-Wave greatness.

Listen: Crazy Wonderful

Jamie Foxx Covers Mens Health

jamie+foxx+mens+fitness Jamie Foxx Covers Mens Health Peep Jamie Foxx on the cover of the latest issue of Mens Health magazine. It seems Foxx must have something out soon, as he’s doing the promo rounds – also recently speaking to Maxim about his altering his body for roles:
Oscar winner Jamie Foxx bit into the role of a schizophrenic musician for his latest movie The Soloist – by chiseling his perfect teeth. Foxx was determined to create a realistic portrayal of Nathaniel Ayers, a homeless American musician who suffered from schizophrenia, so he took the tool to his mouth to mess up his good looks.

The actor explains to Maxim magazine, “I spent hours getting the nuances of the person, making him real. Something angelic happens and you actually become that person. For Nathaniel, I pushed things a bit. I lost about 20 pounds and I put a gap in my teeth. I had one (of my teeth) chipped out with a chisel. My teeth are just so big and white – a homeless person would never have them. I wanted to break up my big, shining piano keys to five them a little character. Some might think I f—ed up my grill for nothing, but I just wanted to come up with some s— to make the part unique.”

More power to him.

Randomness: It’s pretty inspiring to see what actors like Jamie as well as Will Smith have come from in comparison to where they are now. I mean Will is the highest earning actor in Hollywood – fact. Good times.

Mya – ‘Paradise’ Video

After a calling it a day with the US labels (following the complete and utter mishandling of her last album ‘Liberation’), R&B songstress Mya has turned her attention to Japan. Now signed with Manhattan Records, the 29 year old is set to release her new LP ‘Sugar & Spice’ over there this December. The video for ‘Paradise’, the LP’s lead single, made its debut this week and what can I say other than…appalling. Cheap, uninspired, trashy…did I say cheap?

Hell, with £50.00 and Windows Movie Maker, I could have done a better job myself. Not a good look.

What do you think of the song/video?

Kimora Lee Simmons Pregnant?

kimora lee Kimora Lee Simmons Pregnant?According to reports, Kimora Lee Simmons is expecting her third child:

Hip-hop mogul Russell Simmon’s ex-wife Kimora Lee Simmons is reportedly pregnant – with the child of actor Djimon Honsou.

The model-turned-fashion queen – who has two children, Ming and Aoki, by Def Jam Records founder Simmons – is said to have been trying to conceive with the West African-born actor for months, since they began dating in March 2007.

And now the couple has apparently succeeded, with a source telling New York gossip column PageSix, “She’s pregnant.” {Source}

Off-topic, I know, but something about Kimora doesn’t quite sit right with me. I can’t put my finger on what, exactly, it is…
