We interrupt your regularly scheduled programming….
{So sad, I’ve always wanted to say that LOL}
Upon seeing the photos from the BET Honours 2010, I couldn’t help but feel really happy for a certain Whitney Houston. Unlike certain artists, who the media orchestrated comebacks for – despite them not being anywhere near capable (“oh baby, baby…”), Whitney continues to improve which each live showing. I mean, she really is earning all the success that her comeback campaign is experiencing; the undeniable force that is ‘The Voice’ is defying the critics with a return to top form – as evidenced in awesome performances such as the one above. Here’s hoping she continues her reascension.
Tidbit: if this seems like a shameless Whitney plug…it is LOL.

OK, so it’s been a slow news day until maybe a few hours ago, which believe it or not has made for one boring a** day for me. In saying that, it freed me up to surf the net on a non-”must post this now” basis the first time a while. It also got me thinking about a host of random things. Check out my ramblings below:
* Does anyone else think Fantasia‘s performance (above) at the Patti Labelle tribute is one of the year’s best. Classic!
* Can someone, anyone, please clue me up on the latest on ‘Desperate Housewives’. I keep watching religiously and then going Cold-Turkey for no reason! Note: The last episode I watched saw Lynette’s son framed for ‘the fire’. What’s popped off between then and now?
* The comments I read on That Grape Juice crack me up on the daily (even the ones cussing me out)! I swear some of y’all need to be comedians lol
* I’m such a procrastinator. There are at least three things I should be doing instead of this at this exact moment! LOL
* I am legitimately intrigued at people’s stories of how they discovered That Grape Juice, no matter how basic such accounts may be (Google, another site, a friend…)
* This message on Facebook from a childhood friend who emigrated to the US made my day:
You know whats funny Sammy….Is that some of my friends over here were showing their other friends this website (yours) a while back…..and I was like…I know the creator! ( i felt so proud! lol)
* My Rihanna debates regularly extend into discussions with my friends (half of whom agree with me and the other half think Ms. Fenty is a “baaaad b**ch”!)
* I’m completely shocked at some of the messy comments thrown my way by a couple of fellow bloggers since v.2.0 launched (go figure – begins with a ‘J’ ends in a ‘Y’ LOL). If you’re wondering who I’m talking about, I’ll just say: a random Australian weed-smoker and another UK blogger who I really respected at one point.
* Is anyone else fascinated by the many different impressions people have of you? I’ve heard that I’m quiet, too loud, friendly, ‘stoosh’, an outright ‘bitch’. Things that make you go ‘hmmm’
* Super Mario Wii looks like ‘the business’. Got it? Is it any good?
* I miss Michael Jackson
* That Grape Juice’s Trent is probably the most hot-headed person I know. Boy do Caribbean’s have a tongue on them! LOL
* Blackberry or iPhone? (My BB is in repair…damn that trackball aka wackball!)
* Relationships; what’s your take on the concept of in every relationship there being ‘the lover’ and ‘the loved’?
While 2009 brought us much in the way of good music, it also served up great additions to the television spectrum – none more so IMO than ‘The Cleveland Show’.
A spin-off from popular Fox show ‘Family Guy’ (which I ironically have never watched a full episode of), ‘The Cleveland Show’ centres on the adventures of Peter Griffin’s neighbor Cleveland Brown. Many years ago, Cleveland (voiced by Keith Michael Richardson) made a promise to his old high-school sweetheart, Donna (voiced by Saana Lathan). After divorcing his wife, Cleveland, along with Cleveland Junior, move to Stoolbend, VA to start a new life with Donna and her two children – Roberta (voiced by Nia Long) and Rallo.
The show really is a must watch. Check out the series’ most recent episode above and let us know what you think. Would you like to see future episodes on That Grape Juice?
A good friend passed this onto me; while I won’t spoil it for you, I must say this one a real interesting watch. Sad, but real insightful. {Thanks Sean!}
As I ready my popcorn for the 2nd episode of Whitney’s interview on Oprah, which starts in about 1/2 hour, I continue to SMH at this video which I stumbled upon earlier. Without pre-empting it, all I’ll say is that this is both shocking and nasty. Where the hell are her parents? Hot mess.
Check out these promotional shots for Alexandra Burke’s new single ‘Bad Boys’. The weave does looks a little Bargain Bucket, but she looks great all-in-all.
It’s a Monday and a little slow on the news front (I’m sure it’ll pick up, as usual). We here at That Grape Juice are prepping some extra special things for you guys (interviews, competitions and so much more), which we’ll be rolling out in the weeks and month ahead to coincide with our… (Hint: take a look at the archive section on the right LOL).
While we continue to work ‘backstage’, I’m throwing it back to you guys to express yourselves as you wish. As ever, it’s always entertaining to read – and read them I do…
As per the title of this post, feel free to drop anything and ‘errrrrthing’ in the comments section. *The D. Woods and Dawn interviews will be up real soon, before some of you get on me LOL*
{So, anything from your thoughts on the site, to random ramblings, particular views on any story (music, politics, sports etc), share a story/new song, shameless promotion of your own site/material lol…not to be limited to music alone…a-n-y-t-h-i-n-g! }
I’ve been meaning to update you guys on a number of things for a while now, but have been procrastinating. So without further ado LOL…
* Janet Tour Contest: Janet Jackson’s cancellation of her ‘Rock Witchu’ tour has essentially led to the premature end of our ‘That Grape Juice Wants To Rock Witchu’ contest, something that disappointed me personally. Thankfully, winners for select dates that went ahead enjoyed the show from their very very close seats (pops collar…you know how we do LOL LOL). You will be pleased to know that we have a similar themed contest in the pipeline for one of next year’s biggest tours. Any guesses as to who?
* T.I. & D. Woods Interviews: It’s with much annoyance that I can confirm that our telephone time with T.I. has been cancelled. We had been allocated a time to interview the rapper during last month’s Thanksgiving Week, however we received word a day prior that his overseas press time had been cancelled due to a lack of time in his US schedule.
Though the unpredictable nature of these things is always something to bare in mind, it’s still very annoying when things like this happen. I will go on record and say that we, here at That Grape Juice, work very hard to secure the very best interviews (See: Interview archive to the left) and will definitely continue to do so.
As regards D. Woods, the official word from her people is that a slot is still to be allocated. I must say though, with D. Woods keeping a relatively low profile since her split from Danity Kane and a new season of Making The Band (kinda…’Bonus episodes’) set to air at the top of 09, I’m thinking there may be more to it all. Watch this space is what I’ll say…
* That Grape Juice – End of Year Awards: Technical glitches can be a bitch (pardon my French LOL). The final nominee list and voting are now set to go live tomorrow – 23rd December.
* Xmas Updates: With Christmas around the corner and it hitting me that I’ve bought little to nothing in the way of presents (as well as all of the stress that comes along with this time of the year), updates may be a little slower than usual. Just a little. That said, I don’t want any of the That Grape Juice faithful to leave me hanging in the meanwhile! One of the main aspects of all this that I love is the fact that it’s all very unpredictable – anything can happen/surface at any time! So do be sure to keep it locked on That Grape Juice as you usually would!
* Etc: 2009 is shaping up to be another great year for the site. Know that we continue to work tirelessly behind the scenes on many fronts to make That Grape Juice the best it possibly can be. Next year will be no different. Continue to expect the latest news, music, videos, interviews and all that good stuff as we head into the new year. Feel free to suggest anything you’d particularly like to see on the site in the comments section below or by emailing me sam@thatgrapejuice.net.
Many thanks to each and every one of you for supporting the site. Do be sure to keep it locked on That Grape Juice and spread the word!
Just a quick reminder to let you all know that you can still give your 2 cents/ as to who should be nominated in the That Grape Juice: End Of Year Awards 2008 by clicking here.
It’s Friday, it’s been a slow news day thus far, so I’ll throw it back to you guys to express yourselves as you wish. Always an entertaining read, I must say…
