Covering songs by Whitney Houston is widely understood to be a text-book no-no for today’s crop of stars. However, Keri Hilson shunned such apprehension when she tackled the legend’s 1992 classic ‘I Have Nothing’ at the BMI Pop Awards last night.

Whitney Houston seemed to be in good spirits today when she was snapped heading into a Los Angeles medical center.
The images come a day after the icon’s rep revealed that she had checked herself into a rehabilitation facility for treatment of drug and alcohol dependancy.
On a positive note, Houston is set to star in the big budget sequel to ‘Waiting to Exhale’, ‘Getting to Happy’ – which begins filming later this year.

The iconic diva is said to be in final negotiations to reprise her role as Savannah Jackson in ‘Getting to Happy’ – the sequel to 1995′s box office smash ‘Waiting to Exhale’.
Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey visited ‘The Oprah Winfrey Show’ in 1998 to promote the animated film ‘The Prince of Egypt’ and delivered the 1st televised performance of the Academy Award-winning track ‘When You Believe’. Fast forward 13 years and the rendition is remembered as one of the most memorable moments in television history thus making it a great choice for From The Vault.
Although many argue that this song was shockingly underwhelming considering the vocal gymnastics for which both women are known, it is obvious that there isn’t a single artist today who can compare to Houston and Carey. Indeed, some singers hay have expansive vocal ranges while other have technical skill but none of them have such a combination of both.
Watching this performance does encourage the question of why Houston and Carey have not performed (or even been seen) together in over a decade. While both women have long since passed their prime, to witness a reunion of the industry’s most celebrated divas would truly be a sight to behold.

Footage of Whitney Houston’s performance at Clive Davis’s Pre-Grammy party has surfaced. The diva applied her now raspy vocals to several classics in tribute to her cousin Dionne Warwick including ‘Walk On By’, ‘I Say A Little Prayer For You’ and ‘That’s What Friends Are For’.
Music’s legends and budding stars aligned last night at Clive Davis‘ annual Pre-Grammy Party (‘Salute to Industry Icons’). Gracing the stage to perform were Whitney Houston (who duetted with aunt Dionne Warwick), Jennifer Hudson, Janelle Monae, R. Kelly, Mary J. Blige, among others.
