Trina is strutting towards the release of her new album ‘The One’ (due September 8th), but this week brought with it a notable speed bump.

The Miami rapstress is renown for her calm candour and fiery delivery on record, yet she let the flames fly on social media and her aim was a woman named Lattie.

Word on the curb is that the issue stems a feud on the from the soon-to-be announced ‘Love & Hip-Hop: Miami.’

After lashing her rival, the Hip-Hop veteran uncaged a new song named ‘Get Money.’

Readers of That Grape Juice know what avid music lovers we are – especially of hits past.

So, just as our retrospective features ‘From the Vault’ and ‘TGJ Replay’ allow us the chance to re-spin the gems and jams of yesterday of one artist, our newest feature Chart Rewind – a variation of our current Retro Rewind assay – accedes salutes to an entire era of music history.

This week we wanna go back to ‘I Don’t Wanna Fight’Tina Turner’s last top 10 hit on the Hot 100. Originally penned for Brit Soul singer Sade, the tune was eventually recorded by the Queen of Rock for inclusion on the official soundtrack of her autobiographical film, ‘What’s Love Got the Do With It?’ And, like the film, ‘Don’t Wanna Fight’ turned out to be quite the hit.

Hitting #9 on the Hot 100 (where it peaked this week 24 years ago), ‘Fight’ would go on to fight for the honor of ‘Best Female Pop Vocal Performance’ at the 1994 Grammy Awards (but lost out to Whitney Houston‘s ‘I Will Always Love You’).  Despite the loss, the song continues to be a favorite among Turner’s legendary catalog of hits.

As we press play on the heart-tugging number, tuck in to see who joined the Rock royal in the top 25 this week 24 years ago:

HITS Daily Double adds:

Sony/ATV had a 23.3% market share and was represented on 49 of the top 100 songs on U.S. radio during the year’s second quarter.

On touring:

I feel both very overwhelmed and loved when I’m on tour. People take the time, energy, and money to come see me. That connection is such a beautiful thing. It’s so amazing to see everyone let their guard down and sing one of my songs from the bottom of their lungs—they’ll let go for a second. That’s a brave thing: We just don’t let go anymore.

On movies:

I really love being the captain of my ship. If I were to do a film, I’d probably have to direct it. I’d love to do a musical! But that will come in time.

On creating her new album ‘Witness‘:

In the past I used a tape recorder, and now I just use my phone. My Notes section is a hodgepodge of all kinds of crazy ideas. And I have an old-fashioned memo notebook—not one of those leather-bound things with a Montblanc pen! Just an old-fashioned black and white composition book, filled with scraps of songs.

SZA is finally getting her due.

After years of working the EP and mixtape circuit, the singer/songwriter released her long-awaited debut album, ‘CTRL,’ in June 2017 – much to fan and critic delight.  Housing the well-received cuts ‘Drew Barrymore,’ The Weekend,’ and ‘Broken Clocks,’ it appears the tune fans had the most time for was ‘Love Galore,’ especially after a moving performance of the Travis Scott-assisted song at this year’s BET Awards.

Since that showing and the release of its accompanying music video, ‘Love’ has been getting exactly that on the streaming and digital download front.  So much so, this week it cracked the top 40 – a career first for the long unsung singer.  With strong suggestion that she’ll rise even higher on next week’s refreshed tally, we anxiously await news at just how high the songbird’s trap-soul single will fly on the Hot 100.

Until then, tuck in below to see who joins her in the chart’s upper half on this week’s TGJ Chart Check:

It’s been nearly five years since an official LP from Kesha has lined shelves of any capacity – digital or physical.  The setback, thanks to a highly publicized legal battle with producer Dr. Luke, ultimately delayed, but did not derail, what would be the hitmaker’s third studio effort.

Fast forward to this summer with the heat between Kesh and Luke somewhat “cooled,” the singer/songwriter is moving forward with a body of work that is far from reminiscent of her ‘Tik Tok’ and ‘Blow’ chart-toppers of years past.  With the top 30 hit, ‘Praying,’ to its credit, the new album – ‘Rainbow’ – is apparently looking to live up to its name with an array (a kaleidoscope if you will) of sounds.

Released just moments ago for your streaming pleasure, as we await more reviews from the industry’s top critics, the opinion that matters most to us is yours. Stream Kesha’s new album inside and weigh in:
