Though Amerie’s third album, ‘Because I Love It’ has been a moderate success over here in Europe – spawning two UK top 10 singles, the CD’s US release seems to be in jeopardy. Following a number of push-backs, the CD was re-scheduled for Stateside release in ‘Summer 2007 ‘, yet it’s status now reads ‘TBD’ (to be decided). Sources are claiming that the ‘One Thing’ singer will soon be (or may have already been) dropped by her US label.
I felt the album was very solid and it’s a shame that her US label don’t know what to with it. Label aside, the American market doesn’t seem to warm to Amerie (just like Kelis). Still, things continue to be on the up for her across the pond in Europe; both ‘Take Control’ and ‘Gotta Work’ did well on the charts and she is prepping the release of her third single ‘Crush’ (the album’s best track IMO).
Why can’t Amerie crack the US market?
…..Because Beyonce is around. The Go Go Sound that B has all over BDay is Amerie’s Sound she went and got Amerie’s producers and jacked the sound. I like Amerie and she is not getting her just due
oh my gosh! it seems like beyonce is the downfall of everyone her album was released last year and u people are still mad at her???common now stop looking for excuses because somebody’s album keeps being pushed back…HOW IS IT B’S FAULT?? u people are seriously ridiculous….NEXT!
yeh, i like amerie too, i didnt think this album was THAT good tho, was abit poor to be honest, the best songs are gotta work and take control, everything else is abit weak.
please add my blog to your affalites! ive added u to mine 🙂

Amerie is an “okay” talent! I think what made me like the first 2 albums was that the beats were great! She’s not that great of a singer, nor does she perform good live, and I believe that The US wants the full package, singer, dancer, performer. Of course some may slip up and get lucky (rihanna), but artist like Beyonce and Usher really show examples of great talent! That’s what we want. Amerie has a lot of growing to do musically!
Amerie is hot!
I think Amerie is a good all around entertainer & song writer. She is very marketable. They just don’t know how to market her. I’ve seen her early this year in DC, she put on a whole set, singing, dancers & interacting wit the audience. Her last 2 albums was good, just lack of promotion and the same goes for the new one. The album was good, it was something different to the table, when you are an artist you want to be creative do things others dont do. In the US people like to hear the same stuff over & over and it gets boring. Why overseas she doing well. Amerie has the skills, the label just like someone said gives better promotion to one artist.
the u.s music taste sucks
imean the chris brown album got in the top 5
I think in Europe we prefere more then an artist not just someone who works with whos hot and of the moment. Think the thing about Amerie is shes real and actually comes accross a real nice person where as others have to make up stupid publicity storys about jay z throwing them out of windows…! I like watching her interviews and hearing what book shes reading and that she love computer games.
I love love love Amerie but dont think it was an amazing album but i think she without a doubt makes the most out of what she has to work with (production wise). Think with the right production team the skys the limit. I do love her voice and think shes a great performer.
bee did not jack s*** from amerie. crazy in love came out..THEN… one thing. lets keep things in perspective people
she did it b4 she can do it again if columbia starts backing her. 2 the last comment go-go is from d.c & so is amerie & so is rich who was exclusively producing amerie. i love b but she does tend to “borrow” i.e “Still In Love”
it’s always a mystery why some songs don’t become hits in America while they blow up overseas. It is a shame americans don’t get kelis or amerie among a million other artist and singles.
I am an Amerie fan, and I wish her label would just decide what to do with her…I felt Because I Love It was creative – I happen to like creativity in an artist, and not the same ol’ same ol’ that we’ve been subjected to in the past and currently…
Amerie is a great artist & I’m a fan. I live in aTL & I can’t understand WHY Amerie is not as big of a star as Beyonce [not to draw comparisons].
She did have her biggest U.S. hit to date back in 2005, “One Thing”…then after that, it seems like her album was deflated. I really liked her first album…but her second album was not the best — I only found maybe 3 tracks listenable.
I accidentally came across “Because I Love It” thru youTube & wikipedia a few months ago & have since downloaded most of the album. In my opinion, the album has SOOOO much to offer as far as R&B music is concerned.
I think that here in the US, so much emphasis is put on an artist “crossing over” to the point where the base genre is completely neglected. “Because I Love It” is pure R&B that would appeal to a wide range of urban genres. A few tracks have that hip-soul feel, while others are airy with 80’s inspired themes.
The record label doesn’t know how to market her here in the US without trying to make her crossover into a more pop-based sound.
Its a shame really….I hope it sees the light of day.
im a huge amerie fan..but its true because i love it was not all that great, i listened to the album and only liked a handful of songs which was wierd for me. I think she needs to hook up with new prouducers and record a few more songs and then release it. shes also not marketed well. i really want her to succeed so i hope she hasnt been dropped!!!
