From The Vault: En Vogue – ‘Don’t Let Go’

Published: Sunday 25th Nov 2007 by Sam

This week’s ‘From The Vault’ video is En Vogue’s 1996 mega-hit ‘Dont’ Let Go’. Arguably one of group’s career defining songs, the video also marked the last time the girls would appear as a quartet. Lead singer Dawn Robinson left shortly after the track was released in 1997 due to negotiations to keep her place as a member – whilst embarking on a solo career – falling through:

Timeless. The track’s powerful lyrics and even better delivery made this a classic for me. It’s a shame Dawn left when she did, as neither she or the group managed to reach the same level of success (or anywhere near) again. Who knows how much further their legacy would have carried on to?

Bonus: ‘Don’t Let Go’ (w/o Dawn) (Live On Saturday Night Live)

I LOOOVVEEE This song! The video too.. Their hair and make-up was so on point with the mood of the song, it just sends chills! powerful vocals (just like in every other song) and each member sang solo!

Yep yep comment one, this is my tune i still love it, even though they were a four piece everyone sang even though some not as much as others in this particular track but damn all of the girls had vocals and rocked,

Other female groups should take note, it’s not like back in the day when you had a lead singer and back up that stuff shouldn’t be happening anymore as far as i’m concerned your not a group if one person is singing the whole song, Pussycat Dolls are the worse for that, if the other girls can’t sing they needs to get the f*** on and I thought Destiny’s Child was bad with B singing how many verses before Kelly got to sing on and Michelle would add her oh ah near the end,

En Vogue is by far one of the greatest female groups of all time!!! Their songs can be song twenty years from now and still be relivent and not make them look like a bunch of idiots!! Can you imagine Destiny’s Child singing “Bootylious”, or “Solider” at 50? Hell no. Other girl groups need to take note.

This is why I love this blog so much. You think outside the box and deliver something which neither Kevipod or Ali have thought about. Keep up the awesome work Sam.

En Vogue is still alive! Early 2008 they will give allready 5 concerts in Belgium together with Belgian diva Natalia and with Shaggy. Natalia just released her new single in Belgium and it’s one FEATURING EN VOGUE! It’s called Glamorous and it’s a real hit!
