The video for Johnta Austin’s new single ‘The One That Got Away’ has recently surfaced. Featuring a cameo by Spice Girl Melanie B, the video/single serves as the latest release to be lifted from Austin’s much-delayed ‘Ocean Drive’ album (for which there still is no definitive release date). With the video being the best he’s dropped so far IMO, I’m really hoping this is the song that catapults Austin (writer of mega-hits ‘We Belong Together’ and ‘Be Without You’) to the level of stardom his talent calls for.
What do you think of the video?
another babyface Ne-Yo to me.
They all including him write good songs (lyrics wise) but they just aren’t able to vocally support them.
It seems like they focus more on the lyrics of their songs when they sing then on the music witch makes them boring as a singer.
Production is really where they all should be…and thats not a bad thing.
He is not a neyo because he better singer than neyo and finer than neyo now back to Johnta he is so Underrated I think he should leave jermain and move to another record label that will support him because how long we was wating for the video and his album lol. I think this song will be a hit for him if it not then stay behind the scenes or try acting. The video should of showed his fine ass some more or something it also looks like his first video turn it up. I’m going to vote this so he can be on T.V.
IMO, Johnta (while he can sing, and write, and maybe he plays instruments to) but he’s not a star. He doesn’t have anything about his personality that sets him above the rest.
Sure if you look closely maybe he does sound better than NeYo but he’s not writing songs that people want to sing at the top of their lungs in their cars…at least he’s not writing them for himself.
So he’s not big and won’t ever be big ’cause 1) he does not have that “it” factor 2) his songs don’t have good hooks that make “me” wanna sing along with.
IMO
The only criticism I have is Mel B being in the video! She is pretty, but her body looks like a female bodybuilder. Mel B is too mainstream Pop, and has zero R&B credibility.
