Carey’s ‘E=MC²’ Soars Straight To #1

Mariah Carey and Island Def Jam will have much for celebration this week; the diva’s latest LP ‘E=MC²’ landed atop of the Billboard 200 chart after selling a whopping 463,000 copies in the US in its first week. The figures are a career best for Carey, whose previous highest debut was 2005’s ‘Mimi’ which also bowed at #1 selling 404,000 units in its premiere week.

Carey now stands beside Janet Jackson and Madonna as having the second most #1 albums among female artists (6 a piece). With 8 #1 albums to her name, Barbara Streisand remains in the lead. {Source}

Congratulations to Mimi. Yes random, but I’m gonna need Ms. Jackson to get her stuff together and make this ‘Discipline’ project work. Mariah and Madonna are showing that age isn’t a factor, it’s the machine you have behind you. Hopefully Janet/her people get things moving – and fast.
