Popular talent show American Idol taped its annual ‘Idol Gives Back’ show this past Sunday. The star-studded event was held at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood. Mariah Carey, John Legend, Fergie (pictured above), Maroon 5 and Snoop Dogg were among the nights performers. The show airs tomorrow at 7.30 p.m EST/PST in the US on FOX. Poor Mariah. At least she’s answering criticisms of her recently lip synching by actually singing live. And of course, she gets shot down. Please all, please none. I’m pretty sure she isn’t losing sleep over this issue. She seems to know that the general public actually seems sympathetic towards her and is rooting for her. Her new album is hot, whether she’s become a studio artist or not.
Wow, I love how people say she sounds like sh!t again with a 10-second clip that really only shows her singing for 5 seconds of that clip! Give the girl a break people and wait til the actual performance before you start shooting her down. “Fly Like a Bird” is a soulful and emotional song and if it’s anything like the Grammy performance she’ll be killing it!
Mariah live does nothing to excite me, but I’ll reserve full comment until after I see the entire performance. I heard Alicia Keys has a documentary about her trip to africa that will be featured on the show.
To further exemplify the fact that Mimi doesn’t like doing TV performances:
I definitely still get nervous before I go on stage, really more for TV stuff because it’s live and you can’t control it, it’s not the same energy as being on stage on tour. That’s why I prefer doing live performances for fans rather than TV shows and stuff which are cool to do but it’s not the same because when you’re just singing there for your fans and it’s live and it’s in the moment, there’s nothing like it. You can just riff however you want, especially as a songwriter, it’s good for me to be able to sing a song I’ve done it feels like a million times before, but I can do it differently everytime ’cause I wrote it.
The bottom line is that Mariah is a GREEEEEAAAATTTTT singer, but that no matter how long you are in the biz you’ll always have butterflies (literally and figuratively) in the pit of your stomach. I chock any lack of vocal prowess during TV appearances to both NONSTOP touring and nerves. She’s an artist before anything and her song writing and voice are amazing.
Even if she sings poorly live no one will doubt her true abilities. There are singers like Madonna who SUCK live and you wonder if they are using studio fuckery. Everyone knows Mimo can sing, so she doesn’t need to worry. She has proved herself time and time again.

You know what, I just seen the entire LIVE performance on the American Idol special tonight and Mariah sounded AMAZING!!!!!!! NAH!!

In fact, She hit EVERY High Note PERFECTLY!!! This was one of her best recent performances (and Fly Like A Bird is one of the HARDEST songs to ever sing)!!
She has such a beautiful gift and this goes to show you that when God blesses us with a gift, it’s there to STAY and no amount of negativity could ever take that away!!
