Kelly Rowland Performs ‘Work’ On Rove

Published: Wednesday 4th Jun 2008 by Sam
R&B star Kelly Rowland seems to be enjoying massive success everywhere apart from the US these days. Currently on a promotional trip in Australia, she she performed her smash ‘Work’ on popular TV show Rove there. Check out the performance below:

Awesome performance. It still baffles me till this day as to why the US seem to be sleeping on her? Hopefully that will change upon the release of her third solo LP, which is due early 2009.

What do you think of the performance?

LOVES IT…ANOTHER AMAZING PERFORMANCE FROM KELLY.. PEOPLE SLEEP ON HER BECAUSE THEY CONSTANTLY KEEP COMPARING HER TO B…THEY DONT GIVE HER THE OPPERTUNITY…AND HONESTLY HER LABEL/MANAGEMENT (MATHEW KNOWLES) DONT PROMOTE HER CORRECTLY OR SEEM TO CARE

He management company does not promote her in the US.

That’s her consolation prize for remaining loyal to DC and Mathew. IMO

i think kells needs to stay in the uk for her career… she seems to get so much love there… the song isnt bad but that sound is not embraced in the us and really neither is she….her voice doesnt compliment the sound…. it seems like the major record companies in the us like high yellow chicks with or without talent… right now kelly is also compeating in the same market as beyonce here—- do u know how many 20something women have R+b songs right now– TOO MANY!!!!!!!!!! and kelly is no spring chicken…… America is what it is and there is really no love for mature r+b girls who are not light and sing decent… the record companies are definitely not grooming artists unless they have a “universal” look—- meaning not darker skinned …. do i like it HELL NO, but if the societal norms were different or pro everyone here i probably still wouldn’t get her album– i like the seatfiller movie though….mo……..

Even the UK commands more creativity from their artists, she needs to stop trying to be a R&b DIVA cause the press have already given that crown to Beyonce (Deservedly on not) try something different Kelly, take a step back and WORK!!

I’m sorry, but somebody on this blog needs to give this girl some tough love. How does someone who has been in this industry for 10+ years sing worse than an Apollo night amateur. There is no denying Kelly’s voice is beautiful, but her voice control is mediocre at best. She should NOT sing to a backing vocal track. Clearly,it messes her up;tempo wise, pitch wise,it messes her up. She seems scared of high notes now, which is crazy to me since I spent years thinking she was the strongest soprano in Destiny’s Child. And,my biggest pet peeve of all is this, her voice CRACKS,which is a clear indicator that Kelly is either not taking care of her instrument,is not aware of her own voice (range wise),has no control of her voice,or is HOLDING BACK! Whatever the case may be,this is not acceptable for someone who calls herself a professional singer. Maybe Kelly should go back to the drawing board. Hire a vocal coach. Jog while singing to build stamina. Stay away from dairy for AWHILE. I want to see Kelly grow. I want to see her evolve as an artist not regress. To whom much is given much is required. I know God has given this girl a massive amount of talent. Therefore,as someone who supports her I expect big things from her. Kelly needs to STOP HOLDING BACK. STOP ACTING SCARED. STOP LIVING IN SOMEONE ELSE’S SHADOW. SING LIKE YOU KNOW WHAT YOU’RE DOING AND DO THINGS THAT FLATTER YOUR VOICE NOT HINDER IT. I don’t know if this message will ever reach Kelly. I’ve heard her say many times that she does not visit blogs because she doesn’t like the negative comments. I for one think that is a cop-out. Not everyone who blogs is a jack@$$. Some of us actually have the artists best interest at heart. We may not always tell you what you want to hear, but we do tell you what you need to know. We are the ones buying your music, buying your concert tickets(which at times can be teribly overpriced). Therefore,we have every right to be brutally honest. You SHOULD be interested in what we think and in what we have to say. You should WANT to improve. I hope Kelly makes it. I really do,but I can not pretend that this performance was good when it could have been so much better (vocally). Stage presence is great. Vocals need work. This is how I feel.
