New Song: Mario – ‘If I Never’

Mario - 'If I Never'Fresh off a successful stint on Dancing With The Stars, R&B singer Mario is hard at work on his fourth studio album (due before the year’s end). ‘If I Never’ is said to be one of the tracks from his more recent recording sessions. The smooth R&B cut isn’t far removed from some of the solid slower offerings on his criminally underrated ‘Go!’ LP. Good stuff.

The song is just okay for me. I wouldn’t buy it, but I wouldn’t turn off the radio either. I think his voice is sounding a little different and not in a good way. I noticed it on a few songs on ‘Go’, too. It’s all nasally. Maybe it’s just the fact that he’s using a lot more falsetto than he used to. Who knows.

Hold Up…this is a track that was previously recorded by Glenn Lewis that was supposed to come out on his album. Its produced by the Underdogs! But I love both versions. Mario is a brilliant vocalist. Looking forward to the record as GO! was one of my fave R&B records from 07!

“A night at the club or a hit off a blunt: girl I love you more than that” Damn right you better! Track sounds generic, don’t think it would find a place on Go.

The original name of this song is “Can’t Live Without You” and it was originally sung (with much more depth, feeling and strength) by Glenn Lewis. I was totally disgusted when I listened to this; I was completely spoiled on the Glenn Lewis version of the song, and can’t believe that it was given to Mario. No doubt, he’s got a nice voice, but Glenn can make me cry singing this song. THAT’S TALENT. Give this song back to Glenn and give him his props. His whole CD, Back For More, was off the chain!! I don’t know why distribution was pulled on that project. Nice try Mario.
