The video for Ashanti’s brand new single ‘Good Good’ premiered today. Directed by Melina, the video (which for some reason turned out exactly how I envisioned it lol) is great! Quirky, different and generally not your standard R&B clip, this is arguably one of the better videos to come out this year IMO. Tidbit: Nelly makes a cameo, which is sure to get tongues wagging.

Yay Im so glad Melina did the video. The song isn’t the BEST choice for a single, but Im glad to see Ashanti making the best out of it all. THe video’s ‘Stepford Wife’ concept really does capture the song very well. I like it and it makes me like the song a lot more. Great job!

Sam’s comment is on point. Ashanti’s video is simple and quirky and funny. Which makes it stand out. All of you people who are sayin that if Rihanna or Bey or Mariah made the video that Sam would hate are wrong. It just happens that Mariah makes the same music videos with every album release (just a different, but similar song), Bey’s are just your average everyday video (they only stand out cuz it’s Bey) and Rihanna’s are boring (except for S.O.S and Umbrella). 1. So what her album didn’t blow off top. Numbers never determine quality of music. She’s not the only artist to ever have a moderate success period in her career. Nor is she the first to have what people consider a flop album. What are you going to say, when your current favorite artist catch their brick and their moderate point in their career? You’re not going to be a fan anymore. You’re going to throw them under the bus too. I’ll tell you why. Everybody is fickle these days, when it comes to music, and fans aren’t real fans amymore. Once your favorite artist hits that rock. You’re going to jump the bandwagon, to what the industry says is the next hottest thing.
2. So what if people call it the best video of 2008. IT’S THEIR OPINION, AND THEY’RE ALLOWD TO HAVE IT. You don’t have to agree, but again, what do our comments on blogs matter. The video will still be played, no matter what you think of it.
3. When did you become an expert on what will become a hit and what won’t? What if it does? Then what? Too many times, people use their “personal” preference and taste, just because you don’t like it, you feel everybody else won’t. Again, what if it does? BTW, there’s been plenty of artist with number 1 hits all over the place. But they still flopped like a fish out of water. So you can’t say what’s going to be a hit or not.
