New Song: Ciara – ‘High Price’ (Full-ish)

Published: Saturday 19th Jul 2008 by Sam

Ciara - 'High Price' (Full)Having posted a snippet of Ciara’s brand new single ‘High Price’ a few months, the full version (well kinda) of the track has surfaced and it’s a banger. Initially somewhat pessimistic about Ciara’s choice of vocal delivery on the cut, I’m really feeling the track after hearing it in its entirety – the vocals, the gritty production, Ludacris’ 32 bars, everything! ‘High Price’ is the first track to be lifted off the 22 year old’s forthcoming three disc LP ‘Fantasy Ride’.

  7. Anonymous July 19, 2008

I DON’T LIKE IT AND CIARA REALLY NEEDS TO DO SOMETHING NEW, SUCH AS DO A SLOW SONG RATHER THEN THE SAME UPTEMPO SHE ALWAYS DOES, I LIKE HER BUT HER MUSIC STYLE ALWAYS SEEMS TO BE THE AME AND IT’S GETTING BORING NOW

  8. Anonymous July 19, 2008

I like ci- ci and i like her music!!

  9. Anonymous July 19, 2008

are u serious @ the comment sayin she need 2 do something new. shes only on her 3rd album so how can it be boring by now. and high price is different to anything in the charts.

  10. Anonymous July 19, 2008

Not really feelin it! it sounds like Oh!

  11. mike July 19, 2008

    Indeed, that’s HAWTTT!

  12. Anonymous July 19, 2008

and you all call this singing SMH

  13. ND July 19, 2008

MAYBE THE VIDEO WILL MAKE ME LIKE THE SONG BUT I DONT REALLY UNDERSTAND WHATS GOING ON AT THE MOMENT. TO GRITTY AND TO MUCH VOCALS FLYING AROUND THE TRACK!

  14. Anonymous July 19, 2008

im scared about the new album….cause i dont really like that single ( hope it wont be released as 1 st single lol)

  15. Anonymous July 19, 2008

I love love love both this song and Click, what the f* are people talking about, she is defenitly trying something new hello? Did you even listen to the freaking song..damn.

and to ‘SUCH AS DO A SLOW SONG RATHER THEN THE SAME UPTEMPO ‘

    OMYGOD lol i had so much fun mocking this comment, have you even LISTENED to her album before commenting?? Here’s a list of slow songs on the evolution for you sweety;

    -Promise
    -My love
    -So hard
    -I’m just me
    -I found myself

and there are other slow ones compared to the crunk she usually do but it has a bit of a beat so i won’t add those.

Please don’t talk music if you don’t know jack

  16. Anonymous July 19, 2008

This sounds like “Oh” Part II. And the opera-style singing is not working. As limited as her vocal range already is, she needs to stick to what she knows. I’m sure radio will eat it up, though.

  17. Anonymous July 19, 2008

AS SOME PEOPLE ARE READY TO JUMP ON MY OPINION, I HAVE TO COMMENT BACK
YES I HAVE HEARD BOTH OF HER ALBUMS AND 90% OF HER MUSIC ARE CLUB BANGERS
HER FIRST ALBUM (GOODIES) ONLY HAD TWO
SLOW SONGS, AND I and NEXT TO YOU

THE EVOLUTION AS YOU POINTED OUT HAS 5 OUT OF 14 TRACKS. WHAT I MEAN IS CIARA NEEDS TO GIVE US MORE OF A VARIETY WHEN IT COMES TO HER MUSIC

MANY SINGERS/BANDS ARE ABLE TO DO BOTH

SHE NEEDS TO MAKE A RECORD WHICH SHOWS OFF HER VOCALS RATHER THEN THE BACKGROUND BEAT

  18. Anonymous July 19, 2008

HER FIRST ALBUM (GOODIES) ONLY HAD TWO
SLOW SONGS, AND I and NEXT TO YOU

wrong! she also had "Other Chicks", "The Title", "Pick Up The Phone", & "Thug Style".

Only "Bang It Up", "Get Up", "I Proceed", "Thats Right" & "Make It Last Forever" r da only club bangers the others arent.

Cant Leave Em Alone, Like a Boy, ect. arent!

ITS OBVIOUS U HAVEN HEARD "SUPERNATURAL"

  19. Anonymous July 19, 2008

I like Ciara but I’m not feelin’ this song..

  20. Anonymous July 19, 2008

seriously…..how can u people call this a good song and u guys give rihanna a hard time. This song isnt the pit…. its the BOTTOM of the pit

  21. Anonymous July 19, 2008

I’ve been on this song for a while…its so gritty..and the opera sounds annoyed me at first but later on i started loving em…yes it sounds like “Oh”..but why must that equate to bad?…ALL neyo songs sound the same…and everyone eats them up….the chorus is sick…and ciara does her thing so…hopefully her album will be good, different, and interesting…

  22. Anonymous July 19, 2008

I like that she tried sumthing different but now its time to take it a step further. This cut seems like something a new artist would do not cici……..I thought that she was gonna switch it up but she dropped the ball IMO. She is on her 3rd album and she is stuck in 04 LUDA?…….a mess were are so over him and her collabing oh was a hit now lets leave it in 04′ this is 08′ and us bloggers are not beat for stupid sounding s*** cici you betta up ya game you competeing with:
Rihanna (even though im sick of her)
Keri Hilson (her voice is strong ass hell look out “b”)
Beyonce (she is annoying but i cant deny her talent)
Alicia Keys (The sales speak for themselves)
Teirra Mari (she got a voice on her now..)
Jazzmine Sullivan (anything missy touches turns platinum ask cici…..1,2 step)

  23. Anonymous July 19, 2008

I dont like this song but I’m looking foward to her album, Beyonce’s, Christina Aguilera, Eminem and Nelly Furtado!

  24. Rashaan July 19, 2008

UMMMM, I am speechless! LOL! This is not what I expected. Lord knows I love me some Ciara but at first listen I must say that I am not feeling this track. Now I can deal with the opera-like vocals but I agree with a few of the other posters that this is too much like OH! I do know the video and dancing will be hot but the song alone is not cutting the cake. I will still be buying the album though!

  25. Anonymous July 19, 2008

    i like it

  26. Anonymous July 19, 2008

    straight GARBAGE

  27. Anonymous July 19, 2008

Don’t get me wrong, I like some of Ciara songs but this just doesn’t do it for me. The high pitch voice thing doesn’t play well with the song. I guess I will just wait for the second single. Hope this song doesn’t get ate up on radio.

  28. Walley July 19, 2008

this is the the finished REAL copy. ive been hearing on the radio all day

  29. Anonymous July 19, 2008

ooh!!! lool how we can post comments now, cool!

  30. Anonymous July 19, 2008

Just came from the movies. LOOOOOOOONNNGGG AZZZ MOVIE! VERY LOOOOOOOOOOOOOONNGG BATMAN! But well worth it. Oh the woman playing Rachel not attractive bring back Katie Holmes. Ummm…Keith Ledger the best Joker. The best Joker will never be replaced. Great Movie.

  31. Anonymous July 20, 2008

DO.NOT.WANT! What the hell was up with those vocals? Chick left her lane fa sho on this one.

  32. knox July 20, 2008

Dang this song sounds like a freakin OH!!!this is just a re-run wit Luda as well? This is jus a big mistake and she wants 2 Battle Bey wit this s***???

  33. Anonymous July 20, 2008

I think that’s the hottest Ciara song!!! She’s back!

  34. Anonymous July 20, 2008

    This is TERRIBLE!

  35. Anonymous July 20, 2008

the song is hotness. people thought she was crazy with goodies too but they came around when they couldn’t hate no more.

the whole thing works from the creepy vocals to the knockin beat like sam said. it’s fiyah

  36. Anonymous July 20, 2008

OBVIOUSLY EVERYONE HAS DIFFERENT OPINIONS BUT I DON’T CONSIDER ” THE TITLE” “PICK UP THE PHONE” AND SO ON AS MENTION, AS SLOW SONGS

AS FOR SUPERNATURAL, YOU WERE REFERRING BK TO HER PERVIOUS ALBUMS SUCH AS EVOLUTION AND TRACK LISTING
SO I WAS TALKING ABOUT HER MUSIC ON A WHOLE

MANY PEOPLE ARE COMPARING THIS TO “OH” SO TO THEM IT’S NOTHING NEW, MINUS THE OPERA VOICE

LOL, YOU SAY I DON’T KNOW JACK ABOUT MUSIC, WELL TO SAY
“THE TITLE” IS A SLOW JAM, YOU CLEARLY KNOW JACK ABOUT MUSIC URSELF

  37. Soufian July 20, 2008

Oh and another thing, people say nothing about the opera bits on When I Grow Up now do they?

‘i always wanted to be a superstar’

  38. Anonymous July 20, 2008

^^^EXACTLY. And ppl like Ne-Yo and this whole "Stargate" production team responsible for:
    "irreplaceable"
    "with you"
    "hate that i love you"
    "take a bow"
    "because of you"
    "closer"

ALL sound the same! aND NOT MUCH IS BEING SAID. Ciara is innovative and her new album Fantasy Ride is a 3-disc compilation set with 3 separate moods: "Crunktown" (for the hype hip-hop club bangers), "Groove City" (for the ballads that yall claim she doesn't make enough of), and "Kingdom of Dance" (for the pop/dance/house-style dance cuts).

She's definitely trying new stuff and isn't trying to fall in line with this list of songs (WHICH IS REALLY THE SAME SONG WITH DIFFERENT WORDS PUT TOGETHER BY THE SAME WRITER–NE-YO!) WITH HIM WRITING PRETTY MUCH EVERYTHING OUT, WHERE'S THE ARTIST'S FACE & PERSONALITY???

-Rihanna is faceless to me because she doesn't write S***. The first song she EVER had a hand in writing was "Disturbia" and she had help from 3 other writers and the lyrics sucked! I guess that's why.

  39. Anonymous July 20, 2008

    This song will be MASSIVE.

  40. melissa July 20, 2008

Yo, i LOVE THIS DAMN SONG. I can’t stop listening to it.

  41. Anonymous July 21, 2008

The first time i heard this, i didnt warm to it – however, after listening to it a few times, it definately grows on you.

Name one song in the commercial charts right now that sounds like this?

If cic invests some time doing a wicked video for this, i can definately see this being a worldwide smash.

  42. SG3 July 21, 2008

I'm not sure what people are hearing. Outside of the same collbo (w/Ludacris) this song doesn't sound like "Oh," to me. The beat samples 8Ball & MJG, "No Drama" from their Living Legends album. Either way, this song is completely different from anything on radio now. @ the comment saying she's doing the same thing, come on, I don't think I heard any artist in this time do a vocal arrangement like this and make it work. She's definately not the best vocalist, but she knows how to work with what she got. Cause she "shawty is da shyt!" LOL!! Get 'em CiCi!!

  43. Mohamed July 22, 2008

that SONG IS “Fire”…before people said that she didn’t have the voice to make it big…but now she got it she will take over the world…did u forget shes the best male /female dancer ???now she got all to shut your f***** mouth

  44. Anonymous July 22, 2008

No,no,no,no,no. She’s obviously trying to make sure this album flops as badly as her last album did. The song would be hot if it wasn’t for her singing like she is.

  45. Anonymous July 24, 2008

Last album?….Definitely not a flop…it didn’t have as many Billboard Hot 100 hits as the first, but “Get Up”, “Promise”, and “Like A Boy” charted VERY well and “Can’t Leave Em Alone” went Gold. Not to mention the fact that the album is DOUBLE PLATINUM! FLOP??? I think not.
