From The Vault: Christina Aguilera – ‘Dirrty’

Published: Sunday 10th Aug 2008 by Sam
This week’s From The Vault is Christina Aguilera’s 2002 ‘coming out’ (of sorts) ‘Dirrty’. Having long been labelled a teeny Pop star in the vein of the Britney’s and Nsync’s, Christina broke the mould with this edgy, heavily Urban and provocative song/video. Within the clip’s 4+minutes running time, Christina managed to forever dispel any notion of her being ‘just another Pop act’; ‘Dirrty’ saw the birth of the envelope pushing Christina of today:

I remember having to pick up my jaw from the floor when watching this for the first time. I guess ‘shock value’ needs to be employed at times to make people sit up and listen; and listen they did. Christina’s ‘Stripped’ LP, which featured ‘Dirrty’, stands as her second best selling album to date, having sold over 9 million copies world wide.

Notice how in Redman’s rap he makes reference to ODB (Who died a couple years later) and Bernie Mac who just passed… Redman has a nack for these things…

Im still sad over thr big mac, loved that guy

that was her best album to date….i love this song, she was overly sexed up in this video but you could tell she had something to do with it and not just her label, like she was rebelling against everybody and everything…..love christina A

true rebel, true artist to form, i mean she did her with this, her hair, piercings, songs, lyrics, look overall was just her, rihanna is contrived, in person i met her, she’s pretty, not gorg and cocky, but A PLUS CHRISTINA, love her!

see the thing i love about christina is if shes going to be loose, she will tell you exactly the reason why. I loved Can’t hold us down lyrics from that cd cause it basically says the truth. When she comes back to doing music of this generation again she will be back on top. i love her, she actually has purpose.

This video was HOT, I dont know why everyone was bitching about it when it came out. IMO, 2001-2004 was the BEST era in R&B/Pop music as far as the 21st Century goes. It had the best singles of the New Millenium, thats for sure

    Crazy In Love
    Beautiful
    S**** For U
    Cry Me A River
    Yeah
    Loose My Breath
    U Dont Have To Call
    Fighter
    Dirtty
    Lady Mamlade Remake
    Senorita
    Baby Boy
    Hey Ya
etc just to name a few.

I an addict for the jaw dropping kind of video. And Dirrty was IT and still is one of my favorite videos.

It’s wird I never like the person who was presented to me on her first album. But she capture my attention, with her over the top hair/peircing apparence not long before her stripped album; Like in the “Lady marmelade” video (another 1 that is in my favorites). I thought now she’s been what she is: blunt. And I’m loving it!!!

XTina, what true about her? the girl has something to say, and the voice to make you listen.

When this video came out, I reached a whole new level of respect for Christina. She did her thang in this. I still get hype when I hear this song and see this video.

RedMan was soooo perfect for this song.

Christina is one of the reasons why the lil cookie cutter white girls out here today try to get all s*** when they start to hit 18-22. They can’t do it like her though. Thats why she is the voice of this generation. Not just because she can sing her ass off but because she is a real Artist. BOLD-n-BRAVE

I also think she paved the way (especially with this album) for the Pussycat dolls, Girlicous and Danity Kane.

I totally agree with Young One . . . Christina blew uo the spot with this song. I love Redman, so he made it that much better. Christina is the busines and will give anyone out a hell of a run for their money. Honestly, he voice will shut most of them down!!!!! Without a doubt!

^^^^^^^ I DON’T THINK SO, Expect for Lindsay the other two are useless, Christina HAS TALENT

I know she has talent I was saying her raunchiness open the door for other females who did or didn’t have talent.
