As the 51st Annual Grammy Awards draw nearer, a poster of Rihanna for the awards’ ‘Celebrate The Music That Makes Us’ promotional campaign surfaced this week.
All of the text used for Rihanna’s portrait contain song titles from artists who have influenced or affected her life and career. Miss Fenty’s selections included the Mariah Carey’s ‘Hero’, ‘Butterfly’ and “We Belong Together’, as well as Destiny’s Child’s ‘Say My Name’ and ‘Lose My Breath’.
Granted there’s a lot that could be said (LOL), I’ll leave it at: Nice pic.

ANYwho what singer from 1988 and up which includes Rihanna, could not be influenced by Destiny's Child, Mariah Carey, etc. They were the essential Pop R&B artists of the 90's-00's! Makes sense to me.

Actually they are supposed to be songs that influenced their music. For example, Lenny Kravitz’s had a lot of Prince songs. Get over it Rhitard, Rihanna obviously adores DC and Bey.
That’s ggod that she was influenced by DC and others but plese just tell me she won’t perform another year back to back with those same ol songs fron GGGB. Please if so lord help us all.

Her influences are really limited. I hate to sound like a crotchety old man, but seriously, artists these days don’t have to work hard enough. Everything is handed to them. To only be influenced by a few pop artists within the past 15 years shows how green they all are. EXPAND HORIZONS people. And that just doesn’t mean got damn neo-soul either. Look back into other genres even. It starts and stops at Mariah/Whitney/DC? C’mon
well since its now proven that rihanna was indeed influenced by DC and Beyonce and I do remember when she first came out she always talked how much beyonce was this and that to her we can all stop hatting on the 2 of them because they dont hate each other so hopefully both STANS and fans can stop the bashing and comparing the 2
