VMA Nominations; Beyonce & Lady GaGa Lead

The nominations for the MTV Video Music Awards 2009 were announced today. Leading the field with a whopping 9 nominations a piece are Beyonce and Lady GaGa. Check out the full list of nominations for the extravaganza, which airs live on MTV on September 13th:

I don’t usually get too hung up on nominations unless there is something drastically bogus about them, which doesn’t seem to be the case here. Everything is pretty much as I expected, with some folks’ videos being nominated simply because they are big (see: Drake and Britney Spears) and obvious picks like Beyonce – who I fully expect (and deserves) to clean house with her noms for ‘Single Ladies’.
