Pop group JLS will be celebrating this week after scoring their second #1 on the Official UK Singles Chart with their second single ‘Everybody In Love’. Ironically, the guys knocked off UK-media darling Cheryl Cole from the top spot; ironic in that it was Cole who judged them on last year’s X-Factor.
Though I wasn’t the JR Rotem produced song’s biggest fan, it has kinda grown on me. I guess if there’s one song the guys could ever drop in America, video en-toe, it would be this. Very slickly produced and the video possesses enough ‘gloss’ for the US audience. Perhaps I’m jumping the gun a little, as in no way do I feel the guys are ready to crack the US market.
In any case, much congratulations to them! It’s very refreshing to have a UK group of an ethnic minority being so successful and having this much marketing £££ pumped into their brand. Things really are changing for the better on the UK scene.

After that travesty on X Factor last night, I can’t take the UK scene seriously. I haven’t heard their music but if they want a chance here, they need to toughen up their look. They look entirely too sweet!

Maybe some of the indiviual vocals will hinder them breaking the US market, however as a brand/band they can conquer definately Europe and places like Africa and Japan etc..
I like their work ethic and the fact they were a group already branding themselves be4 they even step foot onto x-factor..
They used to be called UFO be4 re-naming to JLS so they were always a work in progress.
I’ve not been too happy with the vocal rota having Aston (rigthly so) & Marvin (Got face but weakest vocals imo) doing the most leads especially as Oritse is the most soulful of the group.
Hopefully this evolves as the group gain more success and JB can stay a solid harmonizer of the group.
Quite a few UK ethnic/urban groups have had a lot of UK shine in the last couple years so it’s GREAT to see more than just one or two acts out there doing it big.
