Mary J Blige Pushes Album Back – To Christmas Week

Mary J Blige

Originally scheduled to hit stores December 15th,  Mary J Blige’s forthcoming LP ‘Stronger’ will now arrive in stores December 22nd – just in time for the Christmas sales surge.

Her team making such a move screams strategic, as well as a little desperate (yes I said it!). The album, Mary’s 9th, was previously set to battle it out with Alicia Keys’ latest effort as well as Chris Brown’s comeback and Lil’ Wayne too. Yet, with her Drake-assisted single ‘The One’ struggling on the charts and there being an unusually low awareness level of her project in its entirety, the Christmas week move seems like it’ll be her best bet on the sales front.

It’ll be quite interesting to see how things pan out with her project post-Christmas, as – having released her last few LP’s  in that exact release window – someone, be it her label or management etc, seem to drop the ball and her album’s seem to disappear into a black hole (see: ‘Growing Pains’). Here’s hoping this time proves different.

    sales done meant ****

its what the album is like, i buy an album because of its quality etc, not how many times it has been sold

people who do that are stupid

Sam, her album was first scheduled for Nov 24, then moved to Dec 15 and now this—- it is desperate because The One and Stronger didn’t live up to the hype on the charts- plus no promo pics, no news on the album- just seems a mess- they should move to next year even if they miss xmas sales-

no one’s checking for Mary now- she needs tostop showing up at industry events, parties etc and get working on the album- i know that i’m not checking for her this time- i hope she brings it because iw as not a fan of her last album and i did not really fell ‘fine’ or ‘work that.

For number 1 Mary never do well on the charts but her cd ‘s do so if Mary was to drop her cd it would hit number 1 and growing pains sold 629,000 copies with hardly no promotion and besides alacia keys who got lucky Mary haves the biggest first week sales of a female from Whitney, Mariah, Beyonce and so on……………

Yall just need to not forget that Mary J. Blige is the Queen of Hip-Hop Soul and Rn’b , ok her promo is sometimes not where she have to be , but she wont fail … yall see with the Oscars and Grammys !

ps : i’m still highly dissapointed by the non-success of ‘ The One ‘ … this song should’ve been N#1 on the main chart ! anywho … i’m out 🙂

Hopefully things change because at this point in the game these young kids buying music today if they are not feeling it you may not achieve the success you hope for. Either Mary is good she has already claimed her spot in the game all these young chicks are trying to get there.
