Alicia Keys Performs On Paul O’Grady

Published: Friday 11th Dec 2009 by Sam

Alicia Keys has been over here in the UK for a minute promoting ‘The Element of Freedom’, her 4th studio album which is due in stores next week. Check out her performance of current single ‘Doesn’t Mean Anything’.

A decent enough live showing, I guess. However, I’m really not feeling the song and feel she could’ve come harder for the record’s lead single, especially considering the fact her album boasts songs more deserving of the 1st single treatment.

What do you think of the performance?

I like the song, yes there are better songs on the album but I can see why Doesnt mean anything and Try sleeping with a broken heart were chosen as the singles. Nor sure if many of the other songs would work as singles. I still like the single anyway and love the album.

Sam, it’s a big problem if you not feel the song.

It has a very deep message, that material things, won things, owned thing don’t mean anything if you don’t have true relationships, true love, true friends, true family.

I’m so sorry for you if you don’t feel the song, because it is awesome, one of the best of the year!

The album is amazing. But This song was theeeee worst single choice ever! Now ppl think shes all soppy and boring.

This is one out of the 4 i skip. She has some excellent material on the new album and ive always been a fan of hers so i wont fault.

This is reminding me of “If I Ain’t Got You”. Same exact theme and similar-ish sounding melody…

Vocals were solid!! That’s the shortest dress I have ever seen her in, she couldn’t move that much or else we would have a wardrobe malfunction. Looked good on her!!

SHE’S STARTING TO SUCK AT SINGING. THIS WAS LACK LUSTRE. SAD SHE’S LOSING HER VOICE AT ONLY 30YRS OLD. ADMITTEDLY, KEYS IS A BETTER SONGWRITER, PRODUCER THAN SINGER AND SHOULD STICK TO THAT. THE VOICE AINT LIKE IT WAS ON HER LAST ALBUM. SHE’S SHOWING SIGNS OF STRAINING AND OFF KEY. NOT THE FIRST PERFORMANCE EITHER.

IT’S ME AGAIN took the words out of my mouth. The song has a good theme but we heard it before in “IF I AIN’T GOT YOU.” All of the material things and money are worthless or doesn’t mean anything if she ain’t got the one she loves or now that he’s gone. Same song, but reworded with different titles. At least she’s copying herself. Anyway, the song is nice but not strong enough to lead an album in this market.
