Jennifer Lopez has been hard at work putting the final touches on her new album, ‘Love?’. In the midst of one of her recent studio sessions, the performer was interviewed by ‘Access Hollywood’ and used the opportunity to defend her vocal abilities which have been the subject of extensive criticism since her debut. ‘Love?’ hits stores in March 2010.
Even though I was impressed by her genuineness and humility regarding her voice, I must admit that Jennifer has never struck as a immensely gifted vocalist. She rarely experiments with her range and has shown little dynamism. In contrast, although she may not be a powerhouse singer like Mariah Carey or even Beyonce, Jennifer definitely stands head and shoulders above many of her younger contemporaries who continue to go ‘hard’ (*hint hint*) with their reliance on auto-tune and studio mechanics to help them imitate actual talent.

I love JLo and I really want her to win. She doesn;t have the best voice, but if you listen to her album Brave, she really did grow as a vocalist. It was the first time since her first album that she contributed vocals to her her backgrounds. Her adlibs were pretty impressive too.
As far as comparing her to Rihanna, its apples and oranges. Rihanna, I will give her this, sings live and has a better range then JLo. But, I would choose JLo over Rihanna any day. JLo’s style is more organic and she has more to offer as far as performance and even the ability to act.
Trent only brought in the “hard” comment to p*** off the crazy Rihanna stans. Cheap shot, but your site needs it. Without the Rihanna controversy, your site is nothing.

Excuse me, but Beyonce is not a powerhouse vocalist. She has good vocals, but powerhouse? NO. I think the breakdown of ‘Ego’ proves that. Her voice cracks when she tries to hit certain notes.

Jennifer lopez never tried to hard , thats what trent meant..she knows shes not the best singer, so she stays within her range..but the bish may not be the best singer, she makes it up with her dancing. in her live perfomances, she never just stands there and try to look pretty.

JLO is NOT a singer, she’s a lipsyncer. She NEVER sings live without some type of magic behind the stage enhancing her voice, whether it be pre-recorded vocals, backup singers that sing along with her voice to make it sound better when she’s supposed to be going at it alone, or a microphone that she’s able to turn on and off. I’ve seen her lipsync on stage to pre-recorded vocals through a mic and then its like she switched on the mic so you could hear her own voice.
JLO is a PRO at lypsincing. She knows all the tricks.
I have also heard her gasp for air ( she was ridiculed for that when she sang live at the Grammy’s with Marc Anthony) at times because she’s not singing from her diaphram like she’s supposed to, which causes her to be out of breath and sound nasally.
Bottome Line, JLO has always been a studio created singer because if that woman could really sing and sound decent on her own, there is NO WAY , and I mean no way she would have picked a song like “Louboutins (using the excuse she’s dancing) and “lypsync” each time (Ellen, SYTYCD, AMA’s) on national TV knowing this is supposed to be her ” big musical “comeback”.
Jennifer IS a bit pro at lipsynching but she HAS sung live – see Fashion Rocks in 07 which was properly amazing. I like the tone of her vocals sometimes (Wrong When You’re Gone and Waiting For Tonight) and less so at other times (Fresh Out The Oven) but she’s a great performer/woman in her own right.
Rihanna is quite obviously a better vocalist and Sam/Trent’s continued slamming of her will only prove to be the undoing of their site over time. Sam claims to read the comments people leave but I don’t know how fulfilling it can be to know that people only come to your blog for gossip/new videos rather than because they give a s*** about anything you have to say…
JLO was definately lipsyncing on Fashion Rocks in ’07, because if she could sing that well without help, why is she still lipsyncing now? I’m telling you JLO has all sorts of tricks and manuvers she uses (and is extremely good at) to try and fool the public into believing its a live performance.
It’s funny. I remember when she performed her Spanish song Que Hiceste (sp) on American Idol where she HAD TO sing live. Her backup singershelped her carry that whole song., but if you didn’t know any better it seemed she gave a totally live performance. lol!

Like I said in another post. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions however if you have to diss other artists to big up your favorite artist then maybe she isn’t as good as you think she is. Grow up.
As far as the story goes, J Lo’s voice doesn’t strike me like Whitney, Mariah or Beyonce’s but she does what she does naturally. She respects her craft and I think what she is saying is that it’s sad that the younger ones coming into the game don’t. They use all these tricks and gadgets just to make their talents more noticeable instead of working on their talents and growing naturally.
