Omarion Performs On ‘106 & Park’

Published: Tuesday 12th Jan 2010 by Trent

Just when you thought it was safe to watch BET’s ‘106 & Park’ again, Omarion decided to hit their stage. The entertainer performed both his new song ‘Hoodie’ featuring rapper Ja Rock and his mother as well as his popular ‘Ice Box’. Omarion’s new album ‘Ollusion’ hit stores today.

That ‘Hoodie’ performance had to be one of  the worst showings in BET history. Not only was Omarion attempting to lip-sync his way through the rendition, he seemed to be performing the dual task of being both the main act and his own hype man. Furthermore, his dancers were amateurish at best, only adding insult to injury for the rather unamused and obviously unimpressed studio audience. Quite interestingly, his mother proved to be the highlight of the entire showing; outshining her son for the entire minute that she was on the stage (how old is she?).

Check out the slightly better ‘Ice Box’ performance below.

Thoughts?

I always like O but something is off about his new music. It’s like he went from Industry music to local talent show type music. His dancing use to be off the chain but now it’s like no real effort. His support (producers, dancers, etc.) seem to be average at best. What’s up???? I may still buy the CD to support him, but in a time when established, awesome artists are barely selling I don’t see him making a dent.

What’s happened to actually singing something nowadays. No effects, no hoppin’ about the stage, no getting the audience to sing for you cause you forgot the lyrics. It seems these days that the people who can sing just do not want to put the effort it or they don’t seem up to it (that may also only be a minority of people and cases but still), and it’s the no talent people trying to sing (this is not a Rihanna dig). And if you never said that was his mum I never would have guessed it. I thought it was Lil’ Mama’s VMA encore.
