In a recent interview with Vlad-TV, R&B crooner Ray J elaborated on the decline of his sister Brandy’s singing career. Ray noted that his sister is currently waiting on the right deal from a label that will grant her freedom in her career for the right payment. The singer went further to divulge that he is collaborating with Brandy to develop two new shows through their new production company, R&B Productions.
It goes without saying that Brandy is one of the most talent and technically skilled singer sin the game right now. Her rare vocals are easily distinguishable amongst the filth that has been clogging the airwaves in recent years. However, although I understand that she is trying to ‘get hers’ by waiting on the right cheque, the current industry has become increasingly competitive with little room for complacency. Regardless of how big her career used to be, the fact remains that her last album was commercially unsuccessful and many labels will be uncertain about how to handle her.
Hopefully she is able to work something out soon because after listening to her amazing vocals on the ‘Human‘ LP, (especially ‘ A Capella/Something’s Missing’) I felt insulted the next time I heard a certain singer chant “eh eh eh” on the radio.

Human is AMAZING! It’s my first Brandy album ever, and I LOVE every song except for Long Distance and its interlude. Besides that bore, it’s 9/10 from me.

I think the music industry has changed since brandy was at her peak. Most ppl want to hear gimmicks and catchy hooks, rather than actual good vocals. See rih rih. It seems like rnb has to be mixed with pop lyrics ad beats to be commercially successful. Only alicia keys ad Mary j seem to sell big numbers.
Brandy has been slept on lately. All b/c of the gimmick lovin’ generation we are in now. Everybody has a freakin’ alter ego, from good to bad, to being fame monsters, to fantasy rides, pussycat dolls, to playing russian roulette, to God mc’s, to self destruction, need I say more…lol.
I can’t wait for Brandy to come back with some new ish, I’m truly a die hard fan of hers and I just find myself going back and listening to all the real R&B music from back in the day because everything on the radio nowadays is recycled, uninspiring junk. I want to just be able to listen to the music not just dance to it all the time.

@Nick The rules have changed. Radio play/billboard no longer translate into instant success or record sales or money. Further, isn’t Hard that girl’s 3rd or 4th single? Also, why can’t she seem to get an initial hit without teaming up with some rapper? Also, if she was all of that why hasn’t she had an album DEBUT at number one. Brandy is the QUEEN B!!! I love her vocals. ALL of her albums are good. I can listen to them from beginning to end. Without skipping a track. Unlike this CRAP that’s considered HOT nowadays!
Brandy needs to go back to Darkchild! She and Rodney Jerkins created a sound that neither have been able to duplicate with anyone else. Never Say Never and Full Moon are her best albums – period! That was when she was unstoppable musically and it was because the music/production/lyrics/vocals all fell into place. Then she did that subpar album with Timbaland, and the decline began. Human was mediocre at best for me, and I am a TRUE Brandy fan. Her vocals were digitally altered on that album, which to me was an insult to her raw sound. Too many of the songs sounded just alike. Brandy needs to settle whatever beef she has with Rodney and do an entire album together, not just a song here and there. No digital enhancements needed.
