Whitney Readying New Album?

According to fresh reports, comeback queen Whitney Houston is already readying the follow-up to 2009’s Platinum seller ‘I Look To You’. Set to embark on a four-month world tour, which kicks off in Seoul, Korea on February 6th, Houston (46) is said to be hitting the studio for recording sessions with hit-maker Bryan Michael Cox. {Source 1} {Source 2}

Granted it’s currently unconfirmed as to whether Nippy’s recent and upcoming recording sessions are indeed for a new album (or a re-release), it’s great to see her keeping things moving. After a tumultuous few years, Whitney seems to be easing herself back into the saddle, with her vocals having improved a hell of a lot compared even to this time last year. Therefore, prepping a new record – which I’d imagine won’t hit stores until late this year, early next – seems like a wise move. It’s all about keeping the momentum moving.

That said, it’d be criminal if  ‘For The Lovers’ doesn’t get a release sometime in ‘I Look To You’s shelf-life! That song epitomises ‘the business’. Don’t believe…take a listen:

    UM SAM, DUDE… WHERE IS UR CREDIBILITY WHEN U CANT EVEN GET THE 411 RIGHT? HER TOUR STARTS IN SEOUL, KOREA FEB 6, 7 THEN CONTINUING ON TO JAPAN, AUSTRALIA, EUROPE FINISHING OFF IN SCANDINAVIA WITH A POSSIBILITY OF A US LEG MID/END OF SUMMER. IF UR GONNA SHIFT INFO FROM WHITNEY-FAN.COM, GET IT RIGHT. LMAO.. OR AT LEAST GET THE FACTS FROM HER WEBSITE WHITNEYHOUSTON.COM! AGAIN TALK IS JUST TALK, NOTHING IS SOLIDIFIED UNTIL OFFICIAL CONFIRMATIONS FROM CLIVE/ARISTA OR HER CAMP. SO FAR… NOTHING. THE IN-STUDIO SESSIONS IS STUFF FOR THE TOUR, POSSIBLY BACKING TRACKS OR TESTING LIVE VOCALS. HER BAND IS IN ATLANTA AS WELL PREPPING FOR WORLD TOUR. IF SHE’S IN-STUDIO TONITE SEEMS DOUBTFUL SHE WILL APPEAR AT CLIVE’S PGG THIS YEAR. THEN AGAIN, ATLANTA IS ONLY 2HRS 15MIN FLIGHT TIME FROM EL LAY. FOR SURE SHE AINT GOING TO THE GRAMMYS AFTER BEING SNUBBED.

    For the Lovers would only be a single in the UK.. so I guess I see what your hype is Sam.. I guess. That isn’t a stand out track to me.. she needs to release “Salute”

    “for the lovers” is underwhelming. “worth it” is a better mid-tempo.

    For the Lovers is my jam along with Salute. Arista has best release them as Sam said in the chart life of ILTY. Just hearing her sing’ so throw your hands UP! For the next 3 minutes, it’s about the lovers’ is bliss. It makes me want to go to a club and dance.

    I do think that there is some talk about a new album and I hope to see it 4th quarter this year which would mean no 4th single (and she never does an album less than 2yrs apart) or 2nd quarter 2011.

    Tour: She can pull it off. what I’ve heard so far in Russia, vocals have alreayd improved. Her tour is gearing up to be pretty decent with dancers, new stage and all.

    JUST REMEMBERED.. CLIVE ALWAYS DOES A FOTOSPREAD OF ALL ARISTA ARTISTS AT EVERY PGG EVENT. THE 2 PAGE POSTER SHOT IS SHOWN IN PEOPLE MAGAZINE THE FOLLOWING WEEK. WHITNEY HAS PARTICIPATED FOR THE LAST 5-6 YRS. THAT MIGHT BE THE ONLY REASON SHE WILL SHOW UP THIS YEAR.

    I believe there will be a re-release and counted as a new as all artists do these days. If the new album is true I see it btw 2&3 quarter 2011. As for the album I see salute or call you tonight as strong singles.

    Whitney’s going to perform until death like Michael did, no surprise there. xD

  12. Trevez January 30, 2010

    I think Whitney will do fine with the tour. Looking at her “practice sessions” in Russia, she doing things with her voice that she wasn’t able to do months ago. I said it before “I Look to You” came out that she should have waited until her voice was better before she came out with a cd. Now that their planning on another album, she can do better. Hopefully she won’t exhaust herself and her voice.

    As a Whitney fan, I can sadly say I was dissapointed with her last album, not because of production because of her voice. I hope this tour gets her vocals in shape for her next album. Her CD would have been great (minus her new remake of Song Like You) if she had more control of her voice and had more old school Whitney in there instead of making her notes so choppy.

    If this was 1985, I’d say I’ve burnt this record “For The Lovers.”
