Published: Friday 12th Feb 2010 by Sam

Grammy and Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson took to the stage at the White House Celebration of Music From The Civil Rights Movement, giving a live rendition ‘Someday We’ll All Be Free’. As ever, Jenny did a great job.

What do you think of the performance?

Hmm, I never thought about that before, but that is VERY TRUE…She NEVER sings her OWN songs, I wonder why???????????????

This was a civil rights show people I don’t think “Spotlight” would be appropriate. She’s working on her new album anyway so I doubt she’ll be singing her old songs anyway

Anyway great performance. Jennifer is far from being overrated. Underrated if u ask me. One of the few people in the industry at the moment who can actually sing well without having to shake their ass not saying that there is nothing wrong with that but it’s very few now

    YES. SHE DID THAT.
it’s really tacky singing your own songs at events like this, so i’m glad she covered something and did it justice.

OMGGGGG DEEJAYBAPS we are soooooo ON the same page … she is a Covergirl and NO not the one you think… she has zero music and singing classics or national anthems (2,3,4…) times is not cool. Tired of her and she is beyond overrated .. simon cowell was right

Jenifer has a very good voice, but I’m tire of her singing like she is still in dreamgirls. We get it you did it now move pass that. But yes I will like to agree with @deejaybaps.

LOL @ all u haters, Just mad because ur faves are NEVER EVER getting an invite to the white house. This is her 2nd time there. But then again, people only hate what they can NOT do or accomplish. Jennifer is just getting started, so I’m sure ur hating will continue..

She did a good job! Monica was called for the White house event but was stuck out west. Nonetheless she did excellent.

SHE HAS A LOW OCTAVE RANGE. GOSPEL RNB SINGER AND HER VOICE DOESNT REALLY FIT THIS SONG. PRE-CRACK WHITNEY’S VOICE SUITS THIS BETTER.

She only has one album out so it is not surprising that she does other songs to fit the different occasions. Tragedy interrupted her first album and promotion but she will have new material soon. The Obamas love her, they always invite her to sing, so I don’t think she’s concerned about the naysayers.

Jennifer did the damn thing as usual! She’s definitely one of the better singers in this generation of music.
Just a quick question, why would she sing something like “Spotlight” or “This isn’t Love” at a Celebration of Music for the Civil Rights Movement? Boy some of you are reeealllllly reaching.

She’s a GREAT, OUTSTANDING singer now.
Jennnifer already had a very very good voice but now she’s grown even more technically.

When she sung to Whitney she did it with ease and with so much presence..

Only positive things to say bout J-Hud.
Versaility gets you booked, versatility get’s u paid and versatility get you to sing at all the MAJOR events.

    Can’t Hate On That!!

Has Beyonce been invited to the White House yet? I’ve seen everyone but her.
