New Song: Fantasia – ‘Even Angels’

Published: Tuesday 2nd Feb 2010 by Trent

The first single from Fantasia’s highly anticipated forthcoming studio album has emerged. The track, entitled ‘Even Angels’, was produced by The Stereotypes, and will be performed on ‘The Oprah Winfrey Show’ tomorrow. Fantasia’s new album hits stores later this year.

It looks like Fantasia took a page from the Mariah Carey playbook with this one.  In fact, this sounds a lot like something Carey and Bryan-Michael Cox would have put forward. Either way, it’s a brilliant song. Her breathy vocals work wonderfully over the production, displaying passion yet restraint. This song may definitely be the radio hit that she has been looking to capture with her new LP.

Sdiebar: I’ still excited to hear ‘Move On Me’!

Hit or Miss?

I’m loving this song by Fantasia. I’m tired of the hollering that she does, all while dancing barefoot on the stage. This song gets my vote. Get it Fanny!

  3. PI February 2, 2010

she is a no holds barred type of singer, honestly she could sing the phonebook and it would be a hit!! The world has been sleeping on miss Fantasia, maybe this album and all those performances she has done singing the greats songs in tribute to them will wake them up!! Cause when she sang Lady marmalade……. ARE YOU SERIOUS!!! sHE IS THE TRUTH!!

  4. Chris T. February 2, 2010

LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Fanny is back, finally!

I WILL DEFINITELY be buying her CD, I suggest yall do the same

  5. brotha1461 February 2, 2010

Fantasia is the truth.love how she holds back and lets the beauty of her voice do its work …See you at the top of the charts…

  6. Steffon February 2, 2010

Love FANTASIA to death but this as a 1st single, I’m not really feeling it. Give me something like “BUMP WHAT YOUR FRIENDS SAY” as a 1st single

  7. WEEZY February 2, 2010

THIS JUST GOES TO SHOW HOW MUCH OF A BEAST SHE IS….THIS SONG MADE ME CRY…HER VOICE IS SO ANOINTED…

  8. Its Me Again February 2, 2010

    looove it

  9. stan February 2, 2010

i like it, but don’t love it. yet.

@STEFFON: YES! that song is the business!

  10. KBJr. February 2, 2010

I guess we know who won the “Move On Me” battle…

I’ll give it to the label, this is a great radio-ready song…a wee bit unoriginal, but with my girl Fantasia on the track, it’ll be in heavy rotation in my Itunes. That “even angels” line at the end of the chorus is crazy catchy! If this ain’t a hit for Ms. ‘Tasia, radio bias against her will be RECONFIRMED!

  11. KBJr. February 2, 2010

Although what happened to the “live instrumental” theme Fantasia said she was gunning for on this album. As far as I can hear, “Even Angels” sounds like a normally digitized R&B song. Not necessarily a bad thing, but not instrument-heavy either.

  12. Anndee February 2, 2010

Love this song, looking forward to the album.

  13. FUSION February 2, 2010

I dunno, a bit boring for me. the production is awful, especially on the chorus. it is too over powering. i love Fantasia and hope it is a hit, just so i can hear more from her album on tv and radio, but this don’t really work for me. i think it will do alright at radio, its a very obvious radio type song.

  14. MushyLove_1992 February 2, 2010

    Go Tasia! I’m feeling this…

  15. DeltaFly February 2, 2010

Finally, Fantasia. I love it. I am glad you decided to go with this one. U gotta listen to your record company babe(JRecords) Clive Davis knows whats a hit. Its POP and I am glad. U will be fine dont worry. After tomorrow when we see u on Oprah, you will finally know EVEN ANGELS, EVEN ANGELS (Learn How To Fly)

  16. Lisa February 2, 2010

I absolutely love this song. It is so beautiful, inspirational, motivational just lovely. Go ahead Fantasia with your bad self. Sang girl. Show people how versatile you are. I love it!!!

  17. Gareth February 2, 2010

Love this song, glad it’s not just some loved up club banger but actually has some substance to it. I’d be very happy if the rest of the album followed this trend. Great stuff.

  18. markus February 2, 2010

WOW ..I love it !! Even Angels will be a hit on radio. All my Filipino friends in Hollywood love it! WE LOVE FANTASIA… WE MISSED YOU!!

  19. Natam February 2, 2010

    OH MY GOD YES!!!

  20. Ms. CLaY February 2, 2010

I LIKE THIS SONG ALOT! BUT I THE SONG THAT SHE WAS GOING TO RECORD ON THE EPISODE MONDAY SOUNDED MORE LIKE HER. THIS SONG DOESN’T SOUND LIKE HER BUT IT’S RADIO FRIENDLY SO I SEE WHY THEY RELEASED IT AS A FIRST SINGLE. CAN’T WAIT FOR HER ALBUM!

  21. GWinston February 2, 2010

Generally, I don’t get excited about pop music, but I understand why the record company has gone in this direction. A definite nod to the folks out there who’ve been calling for a more “restrained” Tasia. I like “Even Angels” and the more I listen to it the more I appreciate it and can imagine a lot of folks taking strength from it. Her last album (which I loved) lacked hooks. This songs does not suffer in that way. It’s downright catchy–as I believe is the hook in “Move On Me.” I think the cooks have likely gotten the recipe right for Fantasia this time. I’m at the edge of overjoyed for her.

  22. Cally February 2, 2010

    Thumbs up, good radio song.

  23. Satchez February 2, 2010

    10’s

  24. MuzikLuver!!! February 2, 2010

I love the song and I think it was a GREAT decision! This songs shows how versatile Fantasia really is and I can’t wait to hear more songs off the album! I’ll be out buying this cd as soon as it comes out!!!

  25. Alex February 2, 2010

Great 1st single…I’m so excited for this album!

  26. Me February 2, 2010

Cute song, but it’s written in a way that any one that can hold a note, can sing this. Love her voice but on this song…WHERE IS IT? It’s drowned out. You hear the music more than you hear her. It seems like making something Radio-friendly almost translates to water down/wash away as much evidence of true talent, as possible.

  27. Me February 2, 2010

P.S. I don’t mean she has to yell and scream, but let us actually hear her gift (voice).

  28. FACTOID February 2, 2010

This is NOT the first single from her upcoming, just a featured track as it was featured on the reality show.

  29. HaYYYYYY February 2, 2010

    i like this a lot
hope her whole album is this good
i wonder what other types of sounds she gonna have
    luv this

  30. Joe Sullivan February 2, 2010

i would have believed you if you had said this was michelle williams
very pretty song, i like it, the harmony sounds familliar at some points

  31. GIt February 2, 2010

i cried to this song….soo real….i cant help but play it over n over n over again….

  32. David Carroll February 2, 2010

This song is absolutely stunning! I’m really enjoying the restrained vocals! Although this track isn’t groundbreaking, it”s perfectly suitable! — I’m listening to it as we speak!

  33. Beverky February 3, 2010

    Hi Fantasia.

I am so excited about the new direction you are going with your music.
“Even Angels” is destined to be a #1 hit . The song is hot!!! I like it a lot.
Continue to work hard so you can be one of the top female singers. I
look forward to seeing you nominated on all the music award shows and
wining. The ball is in your court; Fantasia; you can win all.

    Good Luck and God Bless!

    A Fan From The Begining.

  34. Gary February 3, 2010

    WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW YAAAAAAS FANTASIA !!!
Now THAT is a single and a HIT ! Listened to it at school like crazy and when i took the bus back too hahah , Sooo addictive , i’m realy impressed , and i will looking forward to see what she’s going to put out this year !

GO TASIA , JUST STUNNING !!!!!!

  35. bobs February 3, 2010

This is actually a *great* track in all the right ways – not the boring generic trash that usually gets props on this blog!

  36. TJ February 3, 2010

As I just finished listening to this song, I hate to say this because I usually ride with Tasia all day everyday… but I was totally bored by this track. She doesn’t have to scream and yell, but this song was too underwhelming IMO. I know a great majority of her true R&B fans want singers to go back to singing in ways that will make the hairs on their arms stand up. I mean this song doesn’t do it at all. I hope she has better songs to offer on her album, because unfortunately i’m disappointed with this.

  37. lebret4 February 3, 2010

Fantasia Congradulations on the new release

  38. HIGH-POINTER February 3, 2010

GREAT SONG!!!!!!!!!!!! MY HOME GIRL LOOKING GOOOOOOD,GOD IS WORKING THINGS OUTFOR HER.BACK-UP SINGER FROM HIGH POINT YOU’RE NEXT IN LINE. LOVE YALL

  39. MDBrooks February 3, 2010

Hmmm… I am a HUGE Fantasia Fan and I think I will one day go crazy over this song, but I have to agree with Ms. Clay that I would have loved to have heard the song she wanted to be her single that she performed on her reality show. I think this will be a great crossover song. I think its safe for a wider audience who may enjoy a softer side of Fantasia. Personally, I think it sounds like a slower and more mature Miley Cyrus and the chorus has hints of Miley’s summer hit, Party in the USA.
Love Me Some Fantasia and I hope this album is a HIT!! She deserves it!

  40. rihanna has no business to be singing February 4, 2010

    good song

  41. tempo February 5, 2010

OMG! I’m in love with this song. I’ve been waiting for a brilliant song from Fantasia. She has done it. This is a definite hit. I’m a die hard Tasia fan. This is the kind of song she needs to be singing. I’m definitely buying this CD as I did the last two but this time with so much enthusiasm.

  42. WJH February 12, 2010

This song is a hit, I love it

  43. Tavius February 15, 2010

I agree I enjoyed this song, however, it is something different from Fantasia. I do like the slow Fantasia better because she have some mad crazy vocals and I believe they are better expressed in a slow tempo song. She has been a fan of mine since idol and I will stick with her through the good and the bad but hey she has been nothing but great so far. Plz keep up the good work and I so cant wait for that new album.

  44. Deanna February 16, 2010

I love it love it love it

  45. truecolors February 22, 2010

I personally like this song. Do I think this is a radio hit? Maybe maybe not. She needs to put that song that she was recording on her show on the radio. It’s called I can’t be without you. It’s the best song that I herd from her so far.

  46. Bryttani February 24, 2010

  56. Everett August 25, 2010

This is a great sounding song! I love it so much because it proves, again, that she is capable of singing many different styles of music. She has a wonderful voice and, inspite of all the negative things that’s happened, she will go far. She should hold her head up and realize that we all make mistakes in life. We have to learn from our past mistakes and make a better future for ourselves. I don’t think, I KNOW that this young lady belongs right up there with the top female voices of today. She knows it too! Congratulations on your new album… I do plan to buy it.

  57. Everett August 25, 2010

I love this Song… good job Fantasia!!!
