New Song: Sugababes – ‘She’s A Mess’

As the Sugababes’ ready their ironically titled LP ‘Sweet 7’ for its March 5th release, a new track from the much delayed set has surfaced in the form of ‘She’s A Mess’.

Produced by The Smeezingtons, who also crafted the ladies 09 summer smash ‘Get Sexy’, ”Mess’ is hard-hitting Electro-Pop at its best. Oozing attitude, sass, and a swagger I’ve yet to hear from the brand group prior to now, this is surprisingly rather good. I say ‘surprisingly’ as a cringe-worthy cockney rap from Amelle, and the fact the song  is so lyrically far removed from the essence of their established sound, threatened the quality of an otherwise cracking track. However, the tight production and overall solidness of the song makes for this one to be a winner.

Tidbit: I can’t help but feel that, though the material from ‘Sweet 7’ is readily serviceable to the US market (as I’m sure their Stateside label Roc Nation ensured), it’s hard to envision the ladies making much of an impact there. Their current ‘sound’ is fine, however, those amateur performances they’ve been churning out as of late are unlikely to go down well with US audiences. I mean…really?

Hit or Miss?

  3. The Author February 4, 2010

    Damn, this sucks.
Ok girls, you’ve officially lost a fan.

  4. Kendra February 4, 2010

@Krow this will be released in the US I just don’t know when.
Like I have said before once they kicked Kesh out Im done with this group. I could care less that they are coming to the US now. I love this song but I want the original to leak so bad

Yeah, your tidbit makes sense honey but, you keep they’ve only been together for 2 months at this time, probably even less. Give the girls some credit, seriously – it can only go up for them regarding performance.

If you haven’t seen their acoustic recording of ‘About A Girl’ in livelounge, please – check it out.

LOL Sam, your saying that they won’t do well with the american audiences when that crack-w**** K$sha is still top of the Billboard 100. American music is tasteless!!

  7. KRow February 4, 2010

@KENDRA I know they are being launched in the US but how do you know ‘She’s A Mess’ is being released?

  8. hez_iRvy_iRv February 4, 2010

Sorry girls……this is real bad!!!!…..im a huge fan of the sugababes but….where have their credibility gone, Im begining to wonder if the girls have any control over their music they are putting out!!…….There may have been line up changes but looking at the amazing OneTouch album to now………well i think it says it all!!xx

It’s not a bad listen. It’s not the best either. Just alright. Though Matt has a fair point, if Ke$ha can land a number 1 in the US, good music is for from essential so they’re probably good on that front bearing that on mind 🙂

What a sad irresponsible song. Terrible terrible. ‘Everybody get psyco’ ‘bottle after bottle’? These sort of things shouldn’t be in pop songs. It reminds me of the PARIDISO girls song that glorifies bing drinking.

SAM U REALLY NEED TO STOP “GLORYFYING THE US” LIKE U DO

NO OFFENSE US’ERZ.. CAUSE YOUR A COOL PLACE

AND THE MUSIC INDUSTRY BASICALLY IS THE US
BUT SAM CHILLOUT, AMERICA IS A CONTINENT. NOT A GOD!

  15. anon February 4, 2010

yeah. nothing against america but the music industry over their isn’t really any different from anywhere else, its probably worse as i said with K$sha being number oen for the past few weeks. Anybody these days can get a record contract by the looks of it. people thought gaga were the same but she has proven that she isn’t a one trick pony, i have a doubtful feeling that anybody is going to know this K$sha chick in the next year or so, sorry lol.

  16. stan February 4, 2010

  17. Minaj February 4, 2010

  18. Kendra February 4, 2010

  19. The L Word February 4, 2010

    “CHELSIE”
The Song is saying how she’s irresponsible, it’s not glorifying her actions.

  20. Befarman February 5, 2010

Of all the talentless artists in the music industry today that are promoting people to become drunken whores, the Sugababes are my new favorites.
