Sugababes’ ‘Sweet 7’ TV Ad

Published: Thursday 18th Feb 2010 by Sam

Check out the official album commercial for the Sugababes‘ new LP ‘Sweet 7’ (due March 8th), which began running today:

Their label Island / Roc Nation are not playing when it comes to the promotion of this project! The ad is slick, and definitely sells the ladies as a premier act. Having listened through our preview copy of the album, it most certainly positions them in the  thick of what’s hot musically (Pop-meets-Urban-meets-Dance) and boasts awesome production. Whether or not that’s a good thing, when considering the sound and image the group etched out for themselves over the last 10 years, is up to individual interpretation.

Your thoughts?

flop in the making .. been churning singles since last year and still weren’t a good look .. juss like you cant have Destiny’s Child with out bey or kelly , same with this group . maybe if they change their name cause there really isn’t any originality in there anymore ..

    Very s***, VERY!

It’s the same material Keisha recorded. So I don’t get your problem Sam. If Keisha was still in the group you wouldn’t criticize the direction they took.

Next… Like I said this album is going to make or break them as this new group.

    @ Dolce

I think the album would have still suffered some of the criticism that is being leveled at it now had Keisha still been in the group (see Catfights). However we would have still forgiven them as they have made a name for themselves as experimental and adventurous and daring to push the boundaries and provide edgy pop music. However with all that’s happened the perception has changed about the group. There was always going to be soul with Keisha but now its just 3 girls doing what they’re told with no real artistic stake in what they do. The Sugababes battle tank remains no matter who is its shell. I’m not sure they will survive this time though, which is a real shame. Brilliant ad though!!! Its exactly what they needed but will it be a case of too little too late…?

actually i still wonderin why didn’t they recod new material with all that drama …..since they’ve kicked out keisha(and the released of the album with k’s vocals) they should had known that people were waiting for rip them a newasshole!!!!! they got more that four months …..hope that they are ready to flop hard however it will be the first time that i’ll not buying a sugababes’s lp!!!! savoing my money for keisha and mutya!!!!

Can’t wait till this album! Jade looks hot, but I still say it should have been Heidi who got the boot, not Keisha. Keisha had an amazing tone, and Jade can SANG like no-one else can. I hope this album does well
