Toni Braxton has revealed that she is currently working on a reality show which will air on Bravo’s fall season lineup. In a recent interview with Rap-Up.com, the contralto spoke about the project which will feature her family, including her sister/backup singer, Tamar. Here is what Braxton had to say below:

What can we expect from the show?
I don’t think people have any idea what they’re about to see. They have no idea. I’m Miss Congeniality. That’s all I can say. My family’s very animated and it’ll be entertaining.

Will there be lots of drama?
There will be some personal things about everyone. My mom and my sister Tamar will probably be the drama.

Will your two sons be part of it?
Not really, no. I have a special-needs son and I like to be able to control that with him, and I don’t want to exploit him in any kind of way. They might catch them if they’re passing through trying to get something. “Mom, where’s my iPod?” It’s not something where I’m trying to showcase them.

Do you watch any other celebrity reality shows?
I watch Fantasia and her brother. It’s a riot! Of course I’ve seen Keyshia Cole. I watch a lot of them because that’s pretty much what’s on television right now, so you can’t help but watch it.

Also amongst the topics discussed was the reasoning behind the numerous push backs of Braxton’s long-awaited LP, ‘Pulse’, which now hits stores on May 4th. The album features productions from Lucas Secon, Harvey Mason Jr. & Oak as well as a possible collaboration with fellow R&B headliner Usher. Check out what Braxton had to say about the record below:

“I think me and Usher are gonna do something together,” she exclusively tells Rap-Up.com. “Usher’s great. He’s like my brother in the business. Love, love, love him! We’re both represented by AEG [Live CEO] Randy Phillips, so Randy’s gonna definitely make it happen.”

“I did my part. I called him the Friday before the Super Bowl and said, ‘You have to hear it, Usher.’ He said, ‘I can’t hear it over the phone. After the Super Bowl I’ll hear it.’ We just haven’t connected since Sunday.”

Braxton’s sixth studio album has been pushed back from its original February date because seven out of 10 tracks leaked prior to release. She is adding new material before the rescheduled May 4 date. “It’s top secret now. They won’t even send any of the songs over the Internet. Everything has to be FedExed.” {Source}

It’s great to see Braxton trying to find her place in the media forefront again. A reality show may be exactly what she needs to raise her visibility because she hasn’t had a substantial impact on the charts in over a decade. Fantasia’s reality show has actually done wonders for her career and she is once again at the centre of public interest.

Regarding the delay of her ‘Pulse’ LP, I hope Braxton is prepared for a battle. With ‘Yesterday’ failing to make it anywhere on the Billboard Hot 100 and most of the material surfacing from the album sounding similar to the generic, diluted R&B that has come to define the genre, she needs to make sure that every track she records in the coming months is a masterpiece. ‘Yesterday’ sounds very similar to Beyonce’s ‘Broken-hearted Girl’; a song that was neither inspired nor interesting. Braxton needs to come with that exotic fire that defined her early career.

    I think you’re 100% wrong/ Yesterday is just one single and the rest of the material sounds very different. Her material is sounding way better than Whitney’s material and far from generic. Yesterday did fairly well on the charts considering the lack of substantial promotion (she only performed it on Soul Train WOW) I can tell she is coming with that fire. You wait and see!

    Yesterday was an amazing single it just didn’t get the play it deserved and I don’t think broken hearted girl can begin to touch the rawness of yesterday(speaking of the version without trey songz). I have also listened to some of the linked material and thought that it was refreshing, so I respect your opinion–I just don’t agree with it.
