R&B star LeToya Luckett performed at the Strictly Divas concert last night at The Grove of Anaheim in California. Interestingly, during her set, the former Destiny’s Child member performed a medley of some of the group’s biggest hits. Check out her spin on ‘No, No, No’ and ‘Say My Name’ above…
For a reason I’m still unable to put my finger on, I kinda gave this a mild side-eye initially. This most likely due to the drama surrounding LeToya’s exit from the group, the fact she never sang anything solo, as well as the fact that their biggest success was without her. In any case, Ms. Luckett is very much a part of the Destiny’s Child legacy, hence in reality she does have a right to put her own spin on their hits. That said, it’s still kinda surreal hearing her sing ‘Say My Name’ etc solo.

You can actually hear LeToya on “Say My Name” doing the background vocals. Though in the press they got more attention post-break up, but as it stands now their sophomore album is their biggest selling collection to date. And is the group’s overall favorite album among fans. If she can still get a royalty check for a song she has publishing credits for, she has every right to sing it. She should’ve been allowed to sing more back then anyway.

Letoya has as much right to perform these song as any of the original members. Not only did she put in as much work at the other members, before she was unceremoniously booted out of the group, she also has wirter’s credits on “Say My Name.”
But I honestly appreciate Letoya as the artist that she has become, and not the artist that she was; but I could understand why she might want to take a trip “back down memory lane” (sidenote: Minnie Riperton is the best, I could listen to that song all day long).
But people will continue to hate, and claim that she has not talent, or that she riding DC coattails. But while y’all jocking DC’s fresh, Letoya still has a platinum cd that was No. 1 on the Billboards, and she still got the grammy for “Say My Name.” I tell you about haters ….(smdh)

Well she is still trying to get some attention to help her in her career since she is failing. I think that people need to know that they actually hear LeToya’s voice the loudest in the chorus of “Say My Name” .. the part that she sang in the video (right above the melody) is her voice and the part that most people sing during the chorus. I wish they could have at least got the girl an instrumental because she has every right to sing the parts Beyonce sings on the record. We don’t know who contributed what PARTICULAR words to the song, but LeToya is a credited writer. The lyrics to this song are more LeToya/LaTavia style if you ask me anyway.

Fact is, Beyonce didn’t write one song on “I Am…Sasha Fierce.” Beyonce and her team have bought the rights from the songwriters and then Beyonce took credit for it. I have no idea about previous albums but it’s obvious that Beyonce never had a pen in her hand, which is a shame because Beyonce claims something she isn’t.

In the court order if it doesn’t say Letoya doesn’t have the right to no longer sing any of Destiny’s Child songs then thats when you can talk. It’s funny that you said when they find their own success in 10 years because Kelly just came off of touring for the past two years to have a #1 dance record and is about to release her third album, dropped a management team that barely manages anything, inked a new deal with a record company, helped a uk dj become a us phenomenon (david guetta) and all without stealing music, redoing 30 year old videos and not giving credit, lying about songwriting, stabbing people in the back, publicity stunts, fake relationships, drugs, being naked, being bipolar, being provocative or wearing a leotard….. and Michelle dropped an album that NO ONE knew about because of the management team that she had that didn’t manage anything and still held her head high and now she’s back on broad way as Roxie Hart making moves and money AND a new album. I think they are already successful. Letoya recorded two albums and a movie and is touring with Monica and doing hosting and other shows on the side. She’s successful also. Tavia had a baby and is writing a book. She is apparently happy where she is at so im happy for her.

The only reason why letoya is still on this song is because the destinys child didnt re-record it. The fact of the matter is she was out of destinys child b4 this song came out and michelle was a huge part of the songs sucess the amount of promotional work at that time was emence Letoya really left before the album took off thus she dosent get much credit for sucess.
My opnion is shes is a solo aritist now struggerling to get noticed and perfroming dc songs is just gonna get her fighting for space with beyonce and in reality there is no contest no matter what no one says beyonce is in a totally different arena to letoya.

I don’t think it was a bad idea for her to feature the songs that she actually sang on in her performance. Now, if she had sang “Survivor” or “Cater to You” – she would have got the side eye from me too. With that said, I don’t understand why any of the DC alumni are still playing these tracks in their shows because we have to hear it from Beyonce, Kelly, and now Letoya. After hearing the DC Medley a dozen time by 3 different people, it kind of loses its effect. I’m just sayin…
Maybe ya’ll can help me with this…but I don’t think she is leagelly allowed to sing Beyonce’s part…which is all more reason to just leave those songs alone…

After reviewing my insert from the Writing’s on Wall album(in mint condition), LL has writing credits on most of the songs i.e. she gets royalty checks (still), a couple of grammy’s and can sing whatever she wants. The album has her (background) vocals on them. I think people are so use to seeing B they cant embrace change or the fact that DUH she was in the group (you all-knowing yet ignorant geniuses/fans). Shut the hell up, I’m glad LL is doing her thing. Its clear B has a passion for what she does. She was also blessed to have a father with the foresight, ambition and faith to produce and maintain a certifible LEGEND. Everybody cant be TINA WHITNEY or PATTI but we appeciate the Cece (Peniston), Brandy’s, Keisha’s etc…………..everybody/anybody who entertained and just made you feel so damn good

LeToya performed several of her OWN songs at this concert. Torn, Obvious, Regret, Good To Me (Rmx Version), Lady Love and DC Med.
The only thing is that the DC medley was more for crowd Hype as Toy barely sung the songs bar the chorus.
Good To Me Remix clip sounded GREAT…
But anyway comment what you know, not what you think you know as it’s unfair to the artist.
Not saying you shouldn’t have an opinion, just have an accurate one whether it’s for or against.
{Side-note SAM u should post one of Monica’s performances from this concert as HER voice was on fire through EVERY SONG, though not sure i’m so keen on the key “Everything To Me” was sung in but she still ripped it up)
People wouldn’t give two rats ass if Kelly would have done this, who was also just singing background on these two songs, but when Letoya sings it, she has no right because she wasn’t in the group after this album. That’s crazy! Kelly sings Beyonce’s parts all the time when she does her medley, Hell if any of them sing any of DC’s songs they are going to have to sing Beyonce’s parst because she was the lead singer. But just because Kelly and Beyonce are still friends that means Kelly can do it? That’s Bull! Kelly not even signed to the same label as Bey anymore nor is Matthew still her manager.

Sam I usually agree with you but I disagree here, you listed Kellys DC Medley as one of the best live performances however she did all of B’S adllibs and her part in Independent Women… So something cant be ok for one person and not the other
That is Letoya’s past and she shouldnt have to feel like a step child and hide it, she put in all the work when they were young and clearly she wrote Say My Name and if theres any DC song you can hear her vocals on, its SAY MY NAME, which is the song that put DC on the map and made them a international success…
NOW… I will say, that the way she went about doing it was somewhat off, she should have come up with her own medley of like no,no,no… bills, bugaboo, and say my name, and just somehow kept the chorus’s and ad lib’d, that definitely could have worked for her!
But im glad to see he do this because it was her past and songs just as much as it was theirs!
LeToya could have easily held down the second verse in the original Say My Name, if they gave her the opportunity to sing lead! If you listen to WOTW album, its so many songs where Beyonce could have shared verses… Or they could have been sang by other members and it would have still sounded good.
TO ME:
She has the right to perform any Destiny’s Child song that she was a part of in the creative process and every song up until ‘The Writings On The Wall’ album, which to me is their breakout album, not ‘Survivor’
It would have been better for her to re-record a solo version and then sing that/along to it live, but maybe she doesn’t wanna do that and have people be like, “Why you hatin’ on Beyonce (and Kelly)”

I don’t think she was using the songs for attention. The people at the concert knew who they were going to see. She sang plenty of her own solo songs, but she had a small segment to reminisce about her the old days when she was a teenager and making hits with Destiny’s Child. What’s wrong with that? Most people who are LeToya fans remember those old songs, still know the words and it wasn’t like she was trying to prove anything. She let the audience sing most of it, like she was just having fun. At least she is never bitter about her time in DC and never badmouths her former members. She’s always been grateful for it and she’s comfortable singing the songs. As others have said, I can see if she was singing songs from DC3. But she helped WRITE and sing Say My Name, for goodness’ sake, so why can’t she sing it if she wants? Michelle had no part in the creation or singing of the song, but she can lip it and sing parts of it when DC performs, and LeToya has far more of a right to perform it. She has had 2 Top 10 r&b hits so she’s proven herself solo.
Letoya is the besssssssssssssssssssssssst my girl ain’t no joke she went hard on her songs she wrote.
