Things appear to be going from bad to worse for the Sugababes. Following the dismal debut of their ‘Sweet 7’ LP, midweek figures today revealed that the album is set to crash out of #40 in its second week on the Official UK Album Chart. That doesn’t appear to be the worse of their woes though, as there is now increasing talk that the ladies were quietly dropped by production label Roc Nation last month.
Some may remember that the group signed the lucrative deal in early 2009 with the company shortly before the recording process of ‘Sweet 7’ commenced. Indeed, it was that very production deal which enabled the group, then-fronted by Keisha Buchanan, to work with US-based hitmakers such as Ne-Yo and RedOne for the proeject.
It now seems the drama and awful performance of the project on a whole left a sour taste in the mouth of Roc Nation, who are now reportedly referring to the group as ‘former clients’. The group are also no longer featured on the company’s site. Miaw!

They should’ve just tried to get the real group back…. this was doomed. NEVER try to remake an entire group. I hope Miss Antin is somewhere paying attention to this mess.
Finally Keisha is getting the justice she so rightly deserves, Keisha was probably the one who got the american deal in the first place since she is mates with Ne-Yo
The Sugababes are amazing! I’m LOVING this new album! People need to get over what happened because the personal stuff is non of our business. As long as they keep making GREAT MUSIC that’s all I care about! SUGABABES FOREVER!!!!

This is crazy news if true , The Sugababes need a chance to break the US. After all the money spent on promotion , its mad to drop them straight away. If the album hasn’t done well its due to mismanagement of the leaked album and constantly putting the release date back. Remember all the tracks were already written and recorded by Keisha , and had to be rerecorded by Jade. So the albums style and content hadn’t changed , just one artist. In the US this would be of no concern as they are not widely known there. I think the Album is Fantastic and think its the best ever !
I loved the sugababes but this useless trio of a group have brought the sugababes name DOWN.I hope that the group , if dropped, can sort themselves out and perhaps come back in a years time with a KILLER of a single with a new label.Or…they see sense and disband pronto.

I think that the sugababes are amazing, I think that this album has not been given enough of a chance by the buying public as it is of a very high standard. About a girl should have been pushed back along with the album in november to both be released in march. About a girl is such a great song and should have performed so much better in the charts. I’d like to hope that another single would be realsed from this album that will do really well and turn the album around. Also they could have such big chances in America. Fingers crossed as it’s amazing album and know that the sugababes have a great future.

The people that are commenting on how good the album is should realize that the album has been written by successful producers & songwriters.
So it would be a good album they pay for a good album.
If you’re a true fan of the sugababes & have all their albums know most the old songs & new songs you would spot the different in the quality of the music. The sugababes are known as an edgy pop group because they made music that was pop, electro, soulful, dance it was a mix of the bands musical influences & their vocals.
The music on sweet 7 doesn’t show any of that, this could have been an album by any new group not an established group who had a sound & a loyal fan base.
It’s like getting rid of destiny child (Beyonce, Kelly, Michelle) replacing them with three girls singing rihanna songs.
As for them being dropped its karma,
they though it would be a easy thing to kick keisha out & make her seem like the bad guy.
they had other option if they were not happy being in the group, they could have left gone solo or started a new group but because they knew it would be harder they tryed to be sneaky & underhand. now the fans have spoken
Amelle is probably planning which rehabilitation facility should she try checking in now. I can see the likes of Lindsey Lohan in her future – the fact that Sugababes became tabloid celebrities when she joined.
As for Jade? She’s Jade Ewen. Her parents are deaf and blind. She’ll be in her third girlband by 2015. They will be dropped on that same year.
The best thing Island can do now is try to settle things with Mutya and Keisha – to reform with Heidi. That seems unlikely to happen but I can dream. Or maybe drop these girls and give the name and the rights of the Sugababes back catalogue to Mutya, Keisha and Siobhan – that’s the closest thing to Sugababes 2.0, so I might be very well pleased with that.
Cause now, no matter what the management will do, no amount of skimpy clothes and body parts can revive the band. And with this line-up of Sugababes, the term “These are not the Sugababes” have been trademarked already by the majority.

Sales issues cause the damn album leaked months before it came out. the album is hot but whos gonna buy if they burned it 2 months before, the album is solid so thats not the problem.
Yes. Let us all blame the leaking of the songs to why the album only sold 11k copies on its first week. WTF? All artists face that problems now. It’s not like it’s only the Sugababes album that was leaked.
They will be releasing Crash & Burn as stated last months I believe. They should. They’re crashed and burned, and deservedly so.

Carl…You need to look at the videos on youtube of the new line-up’s acoustic versions of About a Girl, Rabbit Heart, Freak Like Me, Crash and Burn etc…this line-up is the BEST VOCALLY they have EVER been! Saying they cannot sing is just unbelievably foolish.
Jade is a far better singer live than Keisha ever was and the same goes for Amelle in terms of Mutya. At the end of the day Mutya left of her own accord, and Keisha got a solo contract as a result of her being too much to bare. This new line up should go far because the songs are really catchy. However, I think they should have just scrapped the release of this album and went back to the drawing board but obviously the label had already put alot of time, effort and money into it and so they could not afford to do so.
The fact that all the songs were written and recorded by Keisha means that Jade couldn’t really make her own mark on the songs. The fans heard the tracks when they were leaked with Keisha on them and then the same happened with the final album being leaked 2 weeks before physical and digital release. These factors had a tremendous effect on the sales of this album and not to mention the bad press received due to Keisha’ departure.
jade has higher range than keisha – true. but jade is jade. keisha is keisha. you cant compare the two. and it’s not always about having the highest range or being the best vocally when becoming a huge artist. jade should know that. she has flopped already.
and all these new fans saying the line-up wouldnt matter if the songs are good are stupid. sorry to burst your egos but when mutya left, they have sold only more than 500k copies only compared to the 3 albums with mutya with more than 1m. that only proves that they have lost fans when such a unique member left. the management should have learned.
and if amelle and heidi have problems with keisha, they should have settled it in an adult way. instead of telling the management they’d quit if keisha will be still in the band and ask the public’s sympathy after. the fans are not 12 year olds.

Heidi Range is the backbone behind the band . Without her the band wouldn’t be the same. I hope Heidi Range stays with the band for a long time yet .
It has been interesting to see the Sugababes music mature over the years , i look forward to seeing whatever suprise the Sugababes have up their sleeves next .
