Taio Cruz’s ‘Break Your Heart’ Cruises To #1; Breaks Record

Published: Wednesday 10th Mar 2010 by Sam

UK star Taio Cruz has taken the US by storm with his Stateside debut ‘Break Your Heart’. The Ludacris-assisted song rocketed #53-#1 on the Billboard Hot 100 today; in the process making chart history by registering the highest jump on the chart for an artist with their first single.

Congratulations are no doubt in order for the London-based singer/songwriter. It will be interesting to see if he’s able to keep the momentum going with the future releases from his ‘Rokstarr’ LP.

DAMN. It’s soo easy to get a #1 single these days thanks to the “Digital Era”

  2. zenguru March 10, 2010

i just checked billboard and the black eyed peas are number 1

    im confused

  3. Brandoise March 10, 2010

Good for Taio! With this hit and the rise of other overseas artist in the US, it proves that music is universal. I wish online stores like Itunes would pay attention and stop blocking international tunes to its consumers.

    TAIO WHO????

  5. stan March 10, 2010

i just listened to the song… it’s alright, i guess. nice, but nothing extraordinary.

@brandiose: agree re: itunes. the point of the internet is to make information borderless. what is this, the 50s?

  6. rob March 10, 2010

i didnt understand when it was number 1 here its like the charts are full of crap now

  7. RaydeeohCity March 10, 2010

  8. Parisian girl March 10, 2010

I don’t get why mediocre singers break records so easily…

  9. AalexisR (The Bahamas) March 10, 2010

It’s easy to get a number one single but it’s not easy to sale records. FUNNY

  12. Michelle March 10, 2010

He sucks. I can’t wait until this Dance music trend is over.

  13. Chris March 10, 2010

The song is a bit bland but UK acts need to start charting in the US we have American acts dominating the UK charts.I wonder how Alexandra Burke, JLS and Pixie Lott will do.

  14. Nick March 10, 2010

My bf and I just asked who this was., and it came on the radio-haha-terrible terrible song!!! Wow!!! I am just speechless @ music rite now!!

  15. Sean R March 10, 2010

you’re true with itunes…gets on my nerves that i dont get songs that are released everywhere else….and they are wondering why everyone is downloading illegally

he should release dirty pictures as the second single

  17. 12345 March 10, 2010

I had to look up cuz I didnt know who this was, he sucks, and only in America, I aint even going to talk no more because this generation is really pissing me off.

    ONE HIT WONDER.

  19. Jamie March 10, 2010

I liked the song from first listen, and I can’t say that the song isn’t #1 worthy because it definitely has a good concept and a nice video to accompany it. Haters please stop hating because if it were that easy to get a number one single, you’d have one!!!!

Another song I would’ve love to see soar to #1 in the US is La Roux’s ‘Bulletproof’. The song is hot and the beat is blazin’!!

  20. Matt March 10, 2010

I hope Bulletproof by La Roux does well on the charts here in the U.S.!

It was #1 in the U.K.!

  21. cool chick March 10, 2010

don’t like that song, but congrats to him

  22. Richard March 10, 2010

In recent years only acts like Leona Lewis, Natasha Bedingfield, Amy Winehouse and Joss Stone have been some of the few to chart big in USA… so it’s finally good to see another joining them…

  23. Delroy March 10, 2010

I remember hearing this last week on b1xtra and he only managed to chart at no53 but if he has managed to get a no1, well all i can say is atleast it’s better than that s***** a*** DOWN DOWN DOWNDOWN track. Why it got 2 no1 in the states is beyond me. And even though this only his 1st track nto hit the states and looking back at his past tracks that he did i think that he will be in the charts longer than Jay s***** a*** Sean . At leat he can write records.

  24. YouPutTheLimeInTheCoconut March 10, 2010

Wow…really? This song ain’t even all that. Still, good for him. I actually like this guy and I hope Dirty Picture has the same success.

  25. Alex March 10, 2010

    wow…

  26. Miss Lala March 11, 2010

As long as he dosent mention his dislike for black women, he should be fine.
His tunes are great, so congratulations to him

  27. antertain March 11, 2010

That’s a good look for him so congrates on that one.
Maybe he can find a black girl for his damn videos..

  28. tiny March 11, 2010

first of all, if crap like soulja boy, kei$sha can get to number 1, that means i can pen a record and get to number 1. it aint that difficult anymore.
    secondly, taio is a duscsh!!!!!

  29. starRai May 21, 2010
