Ahead of tomorrow’s première of the video for Christina Aguilera‘s new single ‘Not Myself Tonight’, another still from the clip has surfaced. It’s certainly looking as though the mother of one is going the ‘shock and awe’ route this go round.
Granted it’s her old stomping ground (see: ‘Stripped’ project), it definitely won’t help them pesky GaGa comparisons, will it? Particularly when Xtina is the one struggling to get things popping on the charts, with ‘Not Myself Tonight’ dropping a whopping #23-#49 on the Billboard Hot 100 this week.

and while we’re at it, can we also also hold off on the Gaga comparisons until the whole video drops? Need I remind people what the haters were saying about ‘Rude Boy” when the preview clips came out showing Rihanna in a full body unitard, and the haters were out saying, “oh, Ri’s jacking Bey. This is the Kitty Kat redux video.” Then low and behold “Rude Boy” premired and the video looked nothing like Beyonce Kitty Kat.
Video Phone was so supposed to be so f****** epic based on the pics of Bey and Gaga sitting in chairs with matching leos and gloves . . . No one felt that way after watching the whole video

But Christina has always been an unpopular superstar; you can’t call her a flop though when Back to Basics went to number one in thirteen countries. It only looks like she is desperate because of your own mind frame: for the past year and a half we have had Gaga flashed everywhere, so when you see Christina symbolically displaying sexual power in her new video, you think she is trying too hard, but this is just not the case. I love the single but I don’t think it is number one material.

I think’s going for an electro-Stripped era. It’ll prob be quite good I think. I wish people would stop going on about GaGa. She is only one of several people doing that sort of thing. While GaGa does what she does very well, she didn’t really invent any of it. It has been done before so it’s not her trademarked way of doing things. Most artists have similarites in the music industry, they all move with trends to a greater or lesser extent and GaGa will too whenever her way of doing things doesn’t wprk anymore.

Um, actually all of which you named are things that I don’t particularly like about Wayne. I don’t mind profane language or sexually explicit lyrics, however, I do think he takes it too far. I’m not sure if you directed that question to me because he’s in my gravatar, but that doesn’t confirm that I agree with everything he does. I don’t think I’m sexist, however, I just find it a bit more explicit when it’s lesbian-esque. Not only that I think she’s too old for that ish. I think she, at one time, posed herself as a perfect family woman (marraige and child), now she’s back to being Dirrrty??? Wierd.
Now to the Gaga comparisons. It’s not just the video clips and photos that I’ve seen but it’s the song itself. Xtina’s never done dance/techno (that I know of) but now she’s doing it because it’s the most popular trend these days. And I am in no way saying that Gaga created dance/techno but she made it popular and mainstream again.
Now I, myself, didn’t think “Rude Boy” was like “Kitty Kat” before or after the video came out in any way. I think the similarity was there only because the director, Melina, lacks versatility IMO. I think that’s the reason people said it looked the same.
And I agree about the “Video Phone” video because I thought it was pure s***! Previews, pics, actual video, and ALL.

Again with the Gaga comparisons especially when what the video really looks like is a Madonna/Grace Jones video all rolled into One. Again Gaga didn’t create anything. She didn’t even make dance/pop popular. We were already moving into that era of music when she hit the scene. Gaga just made perfect timing.

I can’t believe all the haters. X-Tina has been big since the ’90’s and has been switching up her style and image before GaGa was anybody. If anyone copied anything, it’s GaGa…I LOVE both artists and there’s plenty of room on radio for more than just one female. They are both powerful women doing their thing.
