Diva Whitney Houston made a triumphant return to the stage tonight, when she kicked off the European leg of her ‘Nothing But Love Tour’ in Birmingham’s LG Arena. The ‘I Will Always Love You’ singer had been battling a respiratory infection, an illness which forced her to re-schedule a number of dates at the start of the tour’s most recent leg.
According to sources in attendance, Nippy nailed it! More power to her!

I love whitney, seen her before, bought the album, loved the first three songs, but she didnt nail it, it was the most uncomfortable concert I have ever been to. she was booed and heckled but she was all over the place. heavy breathing, dropping verses, disappearing, rambling endlessly with the crowd. at certain points I thought it would turn nasty.

I know a lot of people will be saying she’s not a patch on what she used to be … And maybe she isn’t … But Whitney is just a legend… And although it was obvious she struggled tonight she still got the audience up dancing and having a good time… And at the end of the day , isn’t that what it’s all about? If we want to hear a note perfect performance… We can just stay at home and listen to her perfectly produced album.. Instead tonight we got to hear the real thing … And I for one am glad I went to hear a true legend sing live. She’s trying to pick herself up and get back to doing what she does best… All power to Whitney .. You go girl!!!
Look, here’s the deal. She cant sing like she used because she lacks the stamina from not working out and being out of shape. She lacks the range from continued smoking since her late teens. PERIOD. Nothing more to say. Could she sing better if she didnt do any of the above? ABSOLUTELY. Would it be like the BG era? NO… cause of age. If people cant take this explanation then buy the cd and stop going to her concerts and bitching useless s***. For real.

@Dawn: Don’t know what you are talking about but I had several friends who went tonight and all including non friends on twitter said her vocals were very very good even the damn tabloid review said her vocals were good, she justhas to work on stamina.

Whitney wasn’t booed for singing, some booed because she took 15mins to change so get the story right. I’ve seen tens of tweets and heard from fans that she was good.
Dean Piper tweeted that she was good . He mentioned her drinking water etc but damn, people think whitney is a doggone robot, every singer drinks water at a concert.

Whitney’s nickname, Nippy, was given to her by her father, John Houston, when she was a baby. “Nippy” was a cartoon character who was always getting into trouble. As baby Whitney kept kicking off her winter blanket, her father kept covering her again, and thought, “Nippy, seldom right.”
Her management company is also called Nippy Inc. Originally set up by her father to manage her career.

Me and my best friend went and have followed her through the years. Very disappointed not a good show at all all she did was talk and not enough singing!!!!! Then she could hardly breath and as for asking to turn the aircon off well i couldnt belive it. I cant belive she was allowed to preform surley her vocal coach would of noticed she was not up to preforming and hitting the right notes!!!! Well what can i say she should be ashamed of herself. From a very upset fan.x
She kinda lost her voice a bit in the last 10 minutes….. the rest of the show was BRILLIANT! She sounded so much better than i expected.
And as for her interval, it really didnt seem anymore than 10 minutes, Gary Houston sang, the dancers did they’re thing and there was a video montage. Annoyed me when people boo’d when she came back out

I really enjoyed the concert last night I think she was amazing, for all those who criticize and pass judgement must have been stone death, we live in a society who love to judge moan and groan over a few little mistakes, or any slightest thing, but overall she was outstanding & we deserve to give her credit, she has been through a lot and to give a performance like that she deserves a medal. This was the WORST concert i’ve ever been to, (and i go to ALOT of concerts).
She couldn’t remember half the lyrics to her biggest hits, and couldn’t hit the high notes.

I think Whitney is pretty much done. I can appreciate the fact that she is heading in the right direction and doing this for her fans. But she should not push it.
She is destroying the reputation and image that she spent years developing.

Whitney can still only ever be compared to her previous self; she was untouchable at her peak and still a legend now so no matter how “bad” people are claiming she is she is STILL phenomenal!
