Some of you may remember Jennifer Lopez‘s ill-fated ‘comeback’ single from last year ‘Louboutins’. Well, as previously reported, the song was initially recorded by R&B star Brandy for inclusion on her forthcoming project; however, The-Dream penned track was left on the cutting room floor, thereafter being snapped up by Lopez.
In any case, Brandy’s version of the song – albeit unmastered and unfinished – has surfaced. While one would presume Ms. Norwood’s version would be better – which it is, her vocal trills, adlibs and whatnot, cannot take away the fact that the song just isn’t very good. Still, judge for yourself…

Brandy’s unfinished and unmastered version sounds way better than JLO’s. Oh thank the soul that decided to leak it. I have been searching for it for months. Luv Brandy. Have been a fan of hers since she first came out and anything she sings, is an automatic hit. Any ney sayers were clearly born after 2000 and have no idea about the great talent that is Brandy. People wake up! Brandy can kill anything J.Lo does. I guess no knew that Brandy wrote Ryde or die on one of J.Lo’s albums and still Brandy sung it better!!! If you listening to the chorus you still can hear J. Lo. Brandy’s voice texture is a lot better than J. Lo’s thin vocals if that.

I had high hopes for Brandy’s version… but it was… boring. Vocally, she was fine… but the funny thing is that this track is more suited for JLo’s voice. Brandy sang a key below the track so her low vocal seemed to conflict w/ the key and tone of the track. Plus, she didn’t seem to have much “umph” in her singing. (in all fairness, i’m sure this is the unfinished, demo track but still…)
Gotta say, JLo’s is much tighter… (even though Brandy has a far better voice)

It’s a horrible song either way but if I have to pick one it would be J.Lo’s version. Brandy’s a better singer to me but she didn’t do much with this song. Then again the song doesn’t call for much real singing and doesn’t allow Brandy to reach her potential. I guess Brandy’s version would have improved if it was finished but I can only go by what I’ve heard.
