The highly anticipated video for Christina Aguilera‘s ‘Not Myself Tonight‘ premiered literally seconds ago on VEVO. The Hype Williams-directed clip was shot to support the song which has fallen to #49 on the Billboard Hot 100 since debuting at #23 last week. Check out the video below:
What on Earth was that supposed to be? Aguilera is one of the most gifted singers in the industry today but she continues to prove time and again how insecure she feels about her talent. It’s completely baffling how she could think that running around oiled up and naked for 3 minutes represents the motherhood experience that she claims this ‘Bionic’ album depicts (unless she was talking about the process of conception). There is a thin line between an artist commanding her sexuality and taking off her clothes just to sell records; a line that Aguilera didn’t just cross with this video – she catapulted to the other side.
On a more positive note, Aguilera didn’t really copy Lady GaGa in the clip as many critics expected. Rather, she imitated an artist desperate to get a hit by any means necessary. O my poor innocent eyes…

third in my estimation chrissys problem is that the public sees her in a certain light and she has continuosly tried to bash it and reinvent herself without the perception of authenticity. This is similar to the problem Monica had with trying to be young hip and forward instead of the next whitney … Same with fantasia. Chrissy is top 5 best vocalis of our generation yet she’s still young impressionable and a pop star. As such it’s a hard balance. And that struggle will forever haunt her and ? Her credibility in the industry. Hence this is why some of her less vocally inept contemporaries get more acclaim. She has to realize perception is more imp than reality in this business.
I say all that to say this video lends to the argument that she still doesn’t get that theory I don’t predict any stand out acclaim chart or recognition based on this song. Hopefully the other songs will prove me wrong

Its funny when you go to another blog, the vibe is totally different. A majority here think the video is fire ( I don’t) while on other sites people hate it. I thought she was doing something really different for this album, but it seems as if she decided on the s** sells route. I don’t purposely think she was trying to copy anyone’s video but it just seemed a little all over the place, a series of scenes put together that really don’t mean too much. Some think the video is hot , others think the video reeks of desperation.
The shot of her perfume was hilarious, trying to market her perfume in the video. No one scene really stands out for me and I felt “blah” after it was done. I’ve seen videos where when they finish I was left with my mouth open, this one I just shook my head. Don’t really need to watch it again, I’m over it. But her fans will love this.

erm i like the song, but the video was really bad, it was like a recession video. the outfit and dance moves were from beyonce’s green light video. some of it look like madonna’s human nature video and of course very bad romance. even the picture above looks like one of beyonce’s tour outfits. i think she just ran out of ideas for the video, its not even shocking. if she goes on like this she will end up like rihanna. where was the christina that we all knew from the stripped era, her songs on that album were inspirational and her voice was on point. after that she sort of went down hill because she tried to go back to being commercial and now she has created the ultimate mess fir her career. how sad that the world lost another good singer.
