British boyband JLS made their US television debut today on NY PIX 11, performing new single ‘Everybody In Love’.
From our standpoint, this was another ‘by-the-numbers’ performance of the song (which, as UK’ers, we’ve seen a million times already). However, we’re really keen to hear what folk think of the Jive-signed group’s first live American showing. Peep their performance below…

Their singing was all over the place. Didn’t like it. But Ashton is cute..

My opinion: obviously it wasn’t perfect BUT I’m glad they sung live and I know they’re going to do well. It’s wasn’t as diabolical as you’re making it out to be.

Am i the only one who couldn’t hear any of the lead singers? I could only when they were singing together? Boy/Men groups are so played out now though but performance wise, they need better choreography. This was there first time in America so they should have killed it. No excuses, its a 2.5/10 for me.

i cannot believe all the negative comments on here :S that was a great performance, i couldn’t see anything wrong with it and also nothing wrong with marvins vocals….if you don’t like them don’t watch them. and as for the too old and ugly comments….are you actually mad! i know everyone has an opinion but at the end of the day, they’re living their dream doing what they’ve dreamed of doing so if you don’t have anything nice to say why even bother.

leanne, seriously, from another UK’er, British music SUCKS compared to the US. This song is so dated aswell. They need a new direction.
I agree this performance was not amazing but you can obviously tell there were some technical faults. Marvins mic was too loud & Astons seemed too quiet.. so obviously this was not their fault. If you watch their other performances of this song in the UK and they have performed a few acapella versions and this same performance etc in the US already you can tell that this is a one off and hopefully will not occur again. They are talented and with a bit of work they could be big. Don’t understand how they are too old to be a boyband though. They are 22- 25 years old, which imo is a good age as they are more likely to be ready and be able to cope with the pressure/music business rather than someone who was around 18. Good Luck to the boys and really hope they do well

i think they got the wrong mic’s, marvin got aston mic that why he sounded so loud compared to the others, ok performance i never liked their dancing hopefully they will get better now they are in the states. Vocally again just ok
I think the best group the UK had was FDM it a shame they never got the support form the industry that JLS has because they are sign in the state by neyo but it been so long since they first came out in 2002 they might have missed their chance.

i don’t understand why ppl keep saying that this was a mess and all over the place. They sounded really good AND THEY SUNG LIVE WHILE THEY DANCED. Not a lot of artist can do that and still have breathe that’s a talent within itself. I think they will make it. They have the looks and the voices to match. But OMG so true, Marvin sounded horrible, but they did sing and dance live which is something alot of these artists don’t do anymore. Overall, it wasn’t TOO bad, but personally i think they should have performed it a bit like they did on the X factor last yr when they came back to perform; they put a little break in the song where they did a little dance, and it was really impressive.
I’m sorry, America is the biggest influence in music history and we had our boy band days already and don’t needs some lads from the UK trying to push bubblegum s*** music agenda that we already hear on a daily bases! To those saying that the american’s commenting on here shouldn’t comment, you really should stop. JLS is trying to appeal to the U.S. audience now and nothing anyone has said on here is any different than anything that people will ask. Someimes what works in the U.K. doesn’t alsways work here.
The 2nd singer (Marvin?) looks “mature”so that is why some are saying they look old ( but he is hot, the others are ???). The 1st singer (Aston?) cut off that hair because that WOULD NOT appeal to most in the US ( I really don’t know what that was about, it really wasn’t flattering). The song DOES sound dated ( early 2000’s maybe) but some folks will like it and all boy singing groups haven’t been popular in the U.S. since N-sync and the others.
IMO they seem a little generic but I’m sure someone will take care of that. The 1st singer has pretty good vocals but I hope he isn’t the only one because that would be a problem. The Question I have is who is the audience they are trying to appeal to? Beiber audience?

Wow. That wasn’t their best performance… and I don’t understand why they did that song… that’s probably the worst one. They should have done One Shot. I love JLS and usually they’re so much better than this.
That said, there wasn’t anything off with the vocals, it’s just that song isn’t good. Choreography – their single Beat Again has the best EVER but this one, agreed, is rubbish.

The song is HELLA dated. That doesn’t necessarily mean that it isn’t good or quality or whatever, but it is VERY dated and generic, as indeed are all of their songs/lyrics/choreography. They are doing 2010 what was hot in the US in the late 90s.
That said given the set I didn’t think the performance was as dire as people are making out. The tall one and the short one did good. Short one needs to get his hair back to what it was it looks so common right now. The one with a jacket was A JOKE what are those “moves”? Seriously! He is ALL OVER the place. Get your s*** together! Seriously he does not belong there. At the intro he is doing s*** nobody else is doing wth!!! Plus whilst everbody else is well dressed,trendy but not too ‘out there’, he looks like a Moesha extra.

When did this site get taken over by juvenile chavs? I read the comments and some of them are so ridicules. I think JLS are overrated and not very good. Whoever said that british music was good maybe they should think of Geri Haliwell, and the same person who said to ask teenage girls if there music was good is just plain stupid.
When I first read of JLS’ US aspirations I had several predictions. First that Aston’s hair had to go. Second, that the wardrobe would be updated for a more urban look (read no choking collars). i still think they could work on the clothes a little more. There is no need for grown (debatable) men to be color coordinated.
The performance was cute but very blah. The choreography needs to be changed to suit the tall one’s height. IDK maybe he’s just not a dancer. Right now though, he looks quite awkward next to the short ones.
Although their songs have been quite popular in the UK, it cannot be denied that the US tends to like a sexier showing. If the guys intend to do Pop then that cutsie ish is fine. But if they want that urban appeal, to take on RnB the subject matter will need to become a little bit more adult (but not as drastic as Trey Songz PLEASE).
Is it just me or are the individual vocals boring compared to when they are all on the hook together? Sucks if anyone tries to go solo…

Finally ppl are seeing what I’ve been saying for months. They’re what I like to call Good At The Time – great when they were only on the X Factor stage, but not so great when they’re on the world stage.
I was a big fan of JLS too on X Factor – though I wanted Alex to win. But, when I saw them perform elsewhere, I quickly lost interest. Their singing isn’t great, their dancing leaves a lot to be desired.
When you guys get Alex Burke over there you will SEE what REAl talent looks like. Is it any wonder the Queen B insisted agents come over here and sign Alex, calling her ‘a star’ and ‘something really special’? That she lent her members of her team – e.,g. Fran Gatson?

Im a critic working for a non-famous magazine in the U.S heard about the boys through XFactor winner Alexandra Burke who also looks promising for great success but yet to find out. Anyway this perfomance really failed to impress me and like GrapeJuice mentioned their voices seemed rough at points and the dancing was cheesy and extremely fast compared to the style of the song. I would give the song 5/10 & the performanc 4/10. ‘Ahmir’ (who did not win American’s Got Talent) are extremely talented compared to JLS, after few years Ahmir still havent recieved the deserved success compared to their talent. In my point of view JLS will last few more weeks in the U.S before they disappear.
They need to be given a chance. Agreed their performance could have been a lot better and should have been. I blame their management for not making sure technical side etc better – they are still inexperienced. They are talented and should not be written off just yet, watch them on ‘You Tube’.
‘Everybody in Love’ was probably not the best first single for release to an American market. The dancing seemed to work in England but somehow did not come together in this performance. I think they were stiffled by their nerves and adapted the song to appeal to the Americans but somehow it didn’t come together.
Not giving up on them, it’s still early days and they are the type to come back stronger.
Be more sensitive you lot. Simon Cowell and other big music industry names cannot all be wrong and they have given them ringing endorsements.
I have been saying it for ages JLS will never make it in America. Like someone already said they are so many boybands in America with far better talent who have not made it, and JLS are not up to par. Their music is corny; dancing a mess; and singing below mediocre. What the jonas brothers are in America is what JLS is to the UK. That is not to say the UK don’t have good boybands, its just that their not as supported. Pleas check out groups like FDM so that you don’t think this is the type of garbage the UK produces.
