A short-haired Janet Jackson took the ‘American Idol‘ by storm this evening. The icon performed a medley of her classic ‘Again’ as well as her new song ‘Nothing’ from the ‘Why Did I Get Married Too?’ soundtrack and ‘Nasty’. Check out the performance below:
Jackson didn’t do too much dancing but she definitely commanded every inch of that stage. Just looking at her perform it was clearly that she had a very large…stage presence. It’s great to see Jackson doing what she does best and hopefully this will encourage her to finally get the ball rolling on making a new album. Great stuff!

At first I was like yth r these ppl attempting to sing Janet’s song but all was right with the world when she came out! Didn’t kn she had cut her hair that short fr a recent pic I had seen. It doesn’t matter if Janet is singing or lip synching, her vocal ability is average at best (same goes for the other professional dancer–Ciara). Janet sounds like a watered down version of Michael Jackson. With only an average voice, I don’t think it’s adequate to refer to Janet as the ‘Queen’. By the way, her dancing was not all that during the performance of Nasty.

That audio @DJ Y2K Malone posted above only further proves that she did lipsynch during “Nasty.” During “Again” and “Nothing” you could hear the crowd screaming in the background because it’s live! But during the “Nasty” verses, you can’t hear the crowd AT ALL because they are pre-recorded vocals. You can only hear the crowd when she shouts to the crowd during the chorus! Check for yourself!
I’m not throwing shade nor am I “hating” as you kids like to say, but I’m all for the truth because I am a HUGE Janet fan! Love her to death, but we all should stop being in denial because she lips very often, but I think it’s understandable!
You youngsters are so very interesting. What major performer with uptempo songs doesn’t pre-record vocal sections? If you’re stupid enough to think your favorites sing live and do 8 or 10 count choreography for 10, 30 or 45 minutes straight then yeah, you go on with that. If I were a performer, I wouldn’t do it. I would focus on the slow songs and midtempos.
I think what I see is a few folks wondering how it is everyone all over cyberspace has good things to say about a Jackson and JUST HAVE TO throw their negative .02 in.
