As the hype for Kelly Rowland’s video for ‘Commander‘ continues to snowball, the singer has provided a behind the scenes glimpse of the project. The clip, which was filmed yesterday, was directed by Masashi Muto and choreographed by Fatima Robinson. Check out the “futuristic” video scene below:

Addressing those who insist on comparing Kelly to Beyonce; you say that there’s too much Beyonce influence incorporated in this video(LIE). Well, I happen to think that Beyonce’s video for Why Don’t You Love Me had mad Kelly influence. Everything from the opening scene where Beyonce is wearing the pin curls, the head scarf and the mid-driff bearing button up that tied at the waist line(seemingly inspired by Kelly’s alter ego shoot) to the random Commander look she was sporting(The black body suit and cap). It seems to me that these young ladies are inspired by ONE ANOTHER. I know that’s a hard concept for you Beyonce worshipers to grasp but your “queen Bee” has said herself that she “admires Kelly” and “Sometimes wishes that she could be MORE LIKE HER”. Kelly in turn has said that “she has learned so much from Beyonce”. They grew up together. They were both lead singers in a high profile group. They are cut from the same clothe; naturally, there are going to be similarities between them, but clearly there are differences as well. Kelly definately has her own swag. She was always the smooth operater of the group.
In terms of her styling. She’s absolutely right when she says that it’s her own. Again, there are similarities between All female artists as far as style is concerned because all of their stylists are following and promoting the same trends but each artist puts her own spin on the style; and Kelly’s spin is s*** chic. Her stage and video atire is just as edgy as Ga Ga’s but not as outlandish. She can pull off high fashion just as good as Rihanna but she’s not as trendy. She’s just as s*** as Beyonce, but manages to pull off s*** without being overtly sexual. She maintains a certain level of class. Kelly is and has always been an individual; musically and otherwise.
People really need to stop acting as though Kelly can’t pull off these looks just as well if not better than these other folk. RiRi is not the ‘Be all & End all of fashion. She has CLEARLY jacked other artists styles. Ga Ga as well. She’s not original. As an above poster stated, she’s a modern day Madonna and Beyonce swagger jacks EVERYONE. You all know it’s true so I don’t understand why you insist on pointing a finger at Kelly and putting her on blast. She’s doing her thing; and giving your favorites a run for their money in the process.
