Multiple artists record tracks, whoever puts the track out is the one who actually paid for it. It was already confirmed to be Teyana’s lead single months before and Kelly’s team leaked it to test the waters on her urban appeal. If I’m wrong, I’ll congratulate the stans for proving me wrong but i HIGHLY doubt that will happen because they are way too busy defending her from ANY criticism than actually going out and buying her flop albums. We don’t have proof either way if she leaked the track. It could have been her, it could have been the producer. Teyanna was shelved and she got scooped. Wouldn’t call that ‘stealing’, especially when Teyanna never even had a release date for her project. But that’s besides the point.

Lol honey I’m still myself. You may not know this but i actually do want Kelly Rowland to succeed. But that doesn’t excuse the fact that her new project needs to be handled correctly. First, I don’t understand why Smooches even came out….one because it wasn’t supposed to be her song, and it’s not even on her new album, and two because it just confused people. Second, she should have officially released Commander and set a solid date for an iTunes release as well as a video. Third, if she knew the U.S. market was her weakest fan base, she should have embarked on a promo trail to build a little buzz over here instead of all of just walking the street and getting her photograph snapped. However, she has done none of the above, and it makes her new project look like it’s all over the place. I don’t even care about Teyana Taylor but I do feel bad that what was supposed to be Teyana’s debut single was released by another artist on another label, for no reason.
Kelly’s image needs major work for her to win over the U.S. market that she needs to propel herself into international stardom. Am I wrong for that? I’m just being honest guys! Rico Love is hot right now and Kelly is a smart woman for having worked with him just like she is for staying with David Guetta. Presently he’s like to her what Rodney Jerkins was to Brandy and JD was to Mariah. And they even struck Grammy gold this year with 3 nominations and a win. She came from a group that has sold over 100 million records and is just at 4 million as a solo artist. At the end of the day 4 million isnt bad. I have to get in on this ‘Kelly Rowland=FLOP’ debate. I agree with the above poster,MUSTAFA MOYER. The only reason people are calling her a flop is because she wasn’t the COMMERCIAL phenomenon that Beyonce was and having been one of DC’s original starletts it’s baffling as to why she did not pull bigger numbers as a solo artist. However,we all Know why she didn’t. Kelly’s first two albums were not properly marketed and Kelly’s promotional tour was in no way,shape or form reflective of her DC roots. Kelly was grossly neglected. As Fifty Cent said in a recent interview, “Kelly was NEVER given the star treatment”. She spent years playing second fiddle in Destiny’s Child and as a solo artist she recieved second fiddle promotion. Now, Kelly is indeed to blame for how the public recieved her. She was stuck so far up the Knowle’s hinepots she didn’t seem to realize that praising them every five seconds would be detrimental to her career. How can you expect people to take you seriously as an artist when you can’t make it through a single interview without referencing Destiny’s Child and/or bringing up ol’ girl’s name(y’all know who I’m talking about). Kelly was pushed into the studio to record her debut album SIMPLY DEEP because of how successful “Dilemma” was,but she was not yet ready. She has said this a number of times. When she went in to record her sophomore album MS.KELLY she was ready to be that solo star. She was ready for the world to know her as Kelly Rowland,not “Kelly Rowland from Destiny’s Child”. She was very proud of her sophomore album and wanted it to be treated in a manner that would solidify her as not only a solo artist;but a super star in her own right. THAT DID NOT HAPPEN. She was given many opportunities to perform her first single(“Like This”) from the second album and the single became a moderate success,but her second U.S. single(“Ghetto”) was snatched off of radio before it even had a chance to make ripples let alone waves. I don’t understand why the label would invest in a single by releasing it,shooting a video for it and giving the artist the go-ahead to perform it if they were just going to pull the plug on it. That was not smart. “Work” was the most successful release from the album and it was ONLY released overseas. It wasn’t even given the opportunity to chart in the U.S. which was crazy. There wasn’t even a fourth single released from the album. Kelly Rowland has been a solo artist for eight years. She has had two solid solo albums,but has only had five official singles in the U.S.(“Dilemma”,”Stole”,”Can’t Nobody”,”Like This” and “Ghetto”) While her fellow group mate released and shot videos for just about every song on both her sophomore and junior albums;not to mention the relentless re-releases. Kelly did get one re-release(MS.KELLY THE DELUXE EDITION) but the only singles that were released from that project were the Freemason’s remix of “Work” and “Daylight”;both of which were released everywhere but the U.S. It’s as if Kelly’s management/label wanted her to come up short in the U.S. this is why she decided that it was time to leave Matthew Knowles and Music World/Columbia behind. That was the best career move she ever made. That and making a connection with David Guetta. The two not only spawned an international hit but they won a grammy and are continuing to make great music together. Kelly was a staple on his album ONE LOVE with not one,not two,but THREE features. David is now a staple on Kelly’s new album and if “Commander is any indication of the heat that he is bringing for her ,this new album of hers is going to be a genre busting chart topper indeed.
As far as “Smooches” is concerned. Kelly had no control over that song being leaked. She recorded the song in 2009. She passed on it once she realized that her album was going in a different direction. Obviously,someone from her camp(probably the actual producer) thought a leak might generate buzz and boy were they right. Not only were people feeling Kelly’s version of the song but the Teyana Taylor controversy only added to the buzz surrounding the potential single. Once Teyana’s version was released it was a no brainer that Kelly’s leak was the superior version of the two. The only thing that made Teyana’s version hot was the Luda assist. I personally wish Kelly would keep the song and feature it on her album,but she has already said that it will not be on her new project. All the drama that Teyana Taylor was coming with was unneccessary. Twitting that she would quit the music business because she was so upset about the leak. Kelly had Teyana shook. If anything, Teyana Taylor should be thanking Kelly for making her relevant again(even if it was only for two seconds).
The clip above is cute. Rico Love is obviously hyped about this project. You can tell he is genuinely invested in it. I for one can’t wait to see/hear what they’ve come up with. I’m sure it’s going to be soooo HOT!!

I love the way Kelly’s projet is being handled this time around, you can see that she has a team that believes in her this time around. would u all stop the Beyonce Vs Kelly comments, those girls are sisters and love each other. so what Beyonce is releasing a tour DVD who cares, i dont think Kelly is bothered ,they dont even sing the same kind of songs. if you like Beyonce keep on supporting her, if you like Ms Kelly buy her music this time around and stop commenting on blogs with no action.
