Earlier this week we posted raw footage of Mariah Carey’s performance of ‘Hero’ at the 2010 Walmart Shareholders’ Meeting. Now, high quality footage of the her entire appearance including her rendition of ‘We Belong Together’ has surfaced. Check it out below:
While not her best performances, Carey’s voice has truly bounced back from its shaky condition of 2008. This improvement makes the prospect of a new studio album seem even more intriguing. Furthermore, since it has been announced that her Christmas album will be in the vein of a live LP, Carey may indeed be preparing to show doubters why she is known as one of the best who ever did it.
Sidebar: It’s so refreshing to see a diva who can still sing her signature material without coughing her way off the stage.

Great to see her confidence return in this performance. She’s been so petrified and stiff on a stage in some her more recent performances. If she had the water she needed, I’m sure her voice would’ve been stronger.
Sidenote: That outfit is total no-no, preggers or not, Mariah has the worse taste in outfits. She’s on her way to being the next Aretha Franklin…great voice, but still thinks she’s a size 2.

Everything changes with age, and I guess a beautiful voice is no exception. I wonder if the change an be attributed to the wear and tear of perfoming and touring over the years/ I always think about what Beyonce’s voice will be like when she gets into her late 30’s and 40’s given she always screams over her tracks. First of all, we all know (especially the lambs, since we’re the ones that love her) that Mariah’s voice is not what it was. However, she is still able to sing better than most, if not all, of the artists (and for some, I use that term loosely) today. Mariah has pretty much been singing non-stop with nary a break during her twenty year career! It’s only natural that her voice would suffer for it. She is and always will be the best vocalist I’ve ever heard (you see that there, that’s my opinion, no need to share it)!
To those saying she’s finished, she’ll be finished when she’s good and ready to be and not a minute before. A few vicious opinions on a little known music blog will not change that. As long as she still has a passion for music and making music, she will always be here and will assuredly, always have an audience.
I enjoy Whitney’s first few albums but it’s glaringly obvious that she can no longer sing and sadly, she has only herself to blame for that. Maybe with proper rest, care and vocal training, she will be able to recapture at least half of the voice she once had (which would still be superior to the “singers” out there now). I wish her the best.
What it all boils down to is this, you have your taste and the people who enjoy Mariah, then, now and tomorrow have theirs. There is no need to hate on anyone. Enjoy who you enjoy and let others do the same.
And to a certain vociferously hateful poster here, for your own sake, please seek psychiatric help. Maybe it can help you with your anger issues.
