A new Fantasia cut has surfaced in the form of ‘The Worst Part Is Over’. Set to feature on the American Idol alum’s forthcoming third album, the inspirational song was produced by Oak Fielder and penned by hitmaker Claude Kelly.
Interestingly enough I have had this song on replay for a while now after it landed anonymously in my mailbox a few months back. However, it’s not Fantasia’s version, it is another R&B diva who is a regular fixture on the site (won’t say no names). You see, there is a little drama surrounding the song, and who it was supposed to be meant for. Scratch that….A LOT of drama. (Remember where you read this should the other version ever surface)
In any case, it appears as though Fantasia has it in the bag,which is a great look for the 25 year old, as the soaring ballad is a winner. Take a listen below…

Loving it! I love Fantasia voice. The way she goes in on songs I love seeing her live almost as much as I love seeing Beyonce live. Def my top 2 when it comes to performing and going in on songs! Great job Fantasia.

I want fantasia to do is to become more refined. I want to see her onpoint everytime i see her. exspecially with a show and a album about to come out. lets just take the last 3 weeks. she looked astunishing when she sung bittersweet on idol and then just this past weekend she looked messey in the BVI.. I just hope that she buys into IMAGE. She use to have a great image comming out of Idol back in 2004. The world bought into fantasia flaws and all. But 6 years later her image is worse than when she went to idol. She is getting older and What I want soooo bad for her to get to a point where her vocals are and can take her. In order to get Fantasia to the next level she will need a STYLIST, PUBLICIST AND A PERSONAL ASSISTANT. I love her soo much her talent is amazing. but if she wants to stay in the industry she will need to have THE ENTIRE PACKAGE. @Rob you ain’t lying people have been borrowing Brocka style for a while now since she’s been laying low(Mary J- The One, Kelly Rowland – Flashback and now Fanny). This has Brandy written all over it( Toni Braxton somewhat too, if it’s a curve ball thrown in) but I’m sorry both of these artist would have done better than Fantasia.
Don’t get it twisted, Fantasia sings her ass off, but the verses don’t fully work for her. It would be better interpreted by an artist with a quicker and relaxed and breezy way about them. Even Chris Brown would have made this more exciting. The only one that may not bring more to the table than Fantasia is Kelly, but Kelly is doing dance now! I don’t think this will be a hit for her, I wish she would just release the song she liked most (Move on – or something). Fanny knows how she’s suppose to sound!

My guess is Toni Braxton, Brandy, Kelly Rowland or Jennifer Hudson…the song fits them perfectly, but Fantasia sounds great on it too.

f*** this is the first song i love from her new cd. I like even angels, but i felt it was missing something.
I don’t know who else sang this, but after hearing Fantasia sing this song like only she can I’d advise that other person to hope their version is never released. It’s just something about that damn Fantasia. She still around six years later, just think of everybody that has come and gone during that time.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion. But @Kev, there is no such thing as a “suppose to sound”. Is she to limit herself to a Move on Me sound because that is YOUR expectation of her? That allows no growth or change. No one should limit themselves to anyone’s expectations. You forget she also sung I’m Here , Sorry Seems To Be the Hardest Word and a very jazzy version of Summertime for Stevie Wonder. None of which sound like Move On Me. I like Brandy. But she does not “own” any particular sound. No one does.
Jennifer Hudson isn’t exactly a staple on this site, but I’d guess her over Brandy.
