A dazzling dancing display from US singer Chris Brown at the Catherine Hall venue in Montego Bay had groupies glued to the front of the stage, screaming and tearing out their hair, fervently hoping for the slightest hint of acknowledgement of their presence.
And the heavily-tatooed Chris Brown played them to the hilt –just as he did the entire Catherine Hall, stretching out to touch their clawing hands, but not quite meeting the target, gyrating his ever-so-athletic body, somersaulting, defying gravity, making pulsating pronouncements while grabbing his crotch. And he also did his songs, live and direct but coupled with heavy lip-syncing which he made absolutely no attempt to hide. Brown delivered a package whose entertainment quotient was undeniable, despite being so heavily dance driven.
High on energy and with youth in his favor, the 21-year-old Brown, whose career had taken a battering when his physical abuse of then girlfriend, pop princess Rihanna was made public in 2009, was a dynamo. Armed with his four equally talented male dancers, a drummer and a selector he delivered a tight, well-orchestrated set in which he made sure to incorporate Jamaican culture.
Casually attired in a pair of khaki shorts, open-front shirt covering his merino, a baseball cap with a red bandana handkerchief hanging loosely from his back pocket, Brown launched his set with Wall to Wall, starting off a mad frenzy which crescendoed as he reeled off other biggies from his repertoire including Gimme Dat, Run It, Say Yow, Brown Skin Girl, and With You. His forwards were huge and when he paid tribute to dancehall by performing tunes like Kartel’s Clarks and showed his knowlegdge of the lingua and the dance moves he had it totally made with the Jamaican audience.

I’m glad they performed together. Its time for us to move on and let Chris Brown do his thing. We don’t have to constantly remind him of what he did to R, he will always be reminded of it and knows that if he does its basically s******. Let the boy live because we all have no right to judge because we all make mistakes in his case it was huge. Nonetheless who are we to play holy art thou. All in all chris dun the stage at sumfest, the patrons and promoters were happy and his performance got great reviews from the local media outlets. They didn’t have the power to stop him from performing, that would have been up to whoever sponsored the show. The only they could do was boycott the show, which wuold have been there loss, but CB was gonna perform regardless!

The host went around asking people who they came to see, majority, young and old said Chris Brown, even an old man said ” Chris Brown of course” or something to that effect, all of us watching at the time had to LOL because we weren’t expecting him to say that. I am sure that footage will be repeated again. And yes the place was literally empty when he left (that is why local media was reporting that he had “loyal followers” that stood in the rain). As fans of Rih and Chris we have absolutely NOTHING to do with their personal situation to even choose a side. I don’t know about everyone else but I became a fan of music not their past bad decisions. The BEST way to offer support is through prayer and/or support for their works – not this ongoing attack between fans/stans. It’s disgusting. Also Chris and Rihanna are not babysitters and, therefore, should not be held accountable for what their fans say and do online or offline. Some people liked his album, some people didn’t. Promotion was not good for the album when it was released in December 2009. Now it is rising on the album charts because more people are coming around to liking him again. To be honest, it just wasn’t the best time for him to release an album, which is why it didn’t sell good. I would think that you would be smart enough to know that. I guess I was wrong about that. But of course, if he had released his album late this year instead, it would have done a lot better. TeamBreezy is a team and will always be a team. People are requesting his music and he is getting more and more radio play. It is a slow, yet steady process, but progress is being made. You try to knock us Chris Brown fans/stans, but I would love to see what you and the rest of your Team Rihanna would do if Rihanna were to be brought up on felony charges, she had lost endorsement deals, and her music banned from the radio. I wonder if people would stand behind her, or if everyone would leave her behind, like you think we should do to Chris Brown. I feel that he is very talented, he has passion for what he does, and he is working hard to get his career back on track. He deserves to show us that he has changed for the better. You don’t have to buy or support anything from him, Chris will be just fine without your help. Exactly! You ask them about her singing, and they say that she is a pop singer and that she doesn’t need a strong voice. Then what about Lady Gaga? I guess she isn’t a pop singer right? LMBO these stans crack me up. Lady Gaga blows Rihanna out of the water. I’m not even a fan of Lady Gaga, but at least I know when someone has a powerful singing voice. If you want to call someone the Queen of Pop, it would be Lady Gaga over Rihanna ANYDAY!
I was going to say more to @Newsflash Haters and I was going to say that if the tables were turned and she was charged with felony charges and she lost endorsement deals and her music was banned from radio, there is absolutely no way that she could come back, and it would be because she has no talent whatsoever. I really am not a negative person, but she would just have to be a model, which is what she is actually good at. People always love to knock people when they see them down, but Chris can just go on stage and show people why he deserves to be in the music business and have people respect his craft, even haters who won’t ever admit that he is very talented. They are just way too stubborn to do so.

WOW – quite some venom going back and forth here. Glad that CB seems to be on the rise again – as I always said I wish him well. Those comments about Mel and Charlie’s girls sticking by them as if that’s a good thing – no way is that good – maybe if your guy hits you once or twice then you’d stick by him, get him help etc – but if they’ve been doing it constantly, no – you just take it to the law – staying with him to get more abuse doesn’t make you a strong woman. Re Gaga filling in for Britney when she was having problems – wth? – Britney’s problems were way before Gaga came on the scene + the idea of white folk having her ready to be on top?? – she’s Italian-American! – having to live in both worlds I know that the WASPs are no way going to choose a girl like her – she may be White, but she’s not Anglo-Saxon or Protestant – you guys should now that there’s a lot or racism between different kinds of white people.

Sometime woman shouldn’t let a man know where all of her relative live in a new relationship, you never know when and where you might have to run. But anywhooo, being abuse is know joke, a woman should get out of the relationship and put some distance between her and the abuser. Calling the police only works if you puts some distance between the two of you, I have seen woman call the police and than go get the man out of jail.
Woman need to learn how to love thou self first before you love someone else. I wasn’t in that car, but if you a man in a car with a violent bytch you got problems on your hand, the problem with Chris Brown he did not know how to handle the situation and he is paying for it dearly. Rihanna has learned not to hit a man, because she has yet to hit Matt Kemp, Now that’s a man who knows how to handle the situation of woman hitting him and plus here lately the two have being seen escorted by other members of Matt Kemp camp.l

@Keesha………I honestly agree with you about Chris cd and the timing of the release because I was like hell it could have just as easily been released this year and chile to me,it should have been released right about now and PassOut should have been the first single because people could have danced to that and then songs like Crawl should have been released afterwards.Who ever did the song selection DID NOT DO a good job! Now with that said,I am SO GLAD to see his cd moving up again.I have a friend and trust me when I said she was mad at little Chris but even her mean b*** bought the cd last week and the funny thing is she was blasting me because she knows I love Chris for not telling her about how good the cd is! I LMAO because when I was told her all about it but she DID NOT want to hear his name!
@Keesha…I definitely agree with you about GaGa,no matter if one likes her or not ,all one has to do is listen to her voice without the judgement for her and she is the damn truth when it comes to having a strong voice.

Yeah true re the distance bit. By the way though I wasn’t thinking CB with that post – his situation is way different to the Charlie / Mel one – they are serial abusers + there’s nothing to say, that I heard anyway, that they got hit first… and Mel’s like what now 60 or something? He should have learnt to change his ways by now – but of course he never will because he’s always been allowed to get away with it. My own solution to the problem was to go to Karate lessons – 7 years of those and any guy who starts it with…. Not that I’m a violent person or anything.
