I’m a fan because I am a Fashion Major….
I really didn’t pay attention to Rihanna until “Don’t Stop The Music”…..
After that song (which I love) I did research on her, and I was in awe of her personal style…
The reason why she is a fashion icon is because she takes risks, and yet maintains her femininity. She doesn’t try to hard, and it looks effortless on her.
Her being abused, and how she handled it added to my love for her…when you are in a situation like that you act on emotions….you don’t really consider other peoples feelings at that time.
I respect her for putting out “Rated R”, and not going the “pop” route, but staying true to herself….regardless of the album sells.
This site should spend more time building people up, and giving constructive criticisms instead of tearing them down, and building other artist up (lady gaga) who don’t let there talent speak for itself, but indulge in scandal, and provocative clothing to sell there music….

First off “hating on” someone is being used out of context. Hating on someone is talking negative about someone for NO reason. I’m just merely giving my opinion about her which is what a blog is for, no? Not everyone has to like Rihanna. I’m not a fan and I express MY OPINION as to what I feel about her music/style/talent (or lack thereof). Secondly, I have NEVER lied on her, nor have I called her ANY names, neither have I bad mouth her. And before you answer me with “well she must be doing something right if she can have 7 #1s and a couple of Grammys”, keep in mind that Milli Vanilli were mad popular too once, and that only ended when people found it that it wasn’t their voices they heard on the records they bought. That was in the early 90s, when people still had standards. I’m pretty sure that had it happened today, few people would care and idiots would still buy their albums and pay to see them in concert.

You can admire someone’s personal style without liking their work, I do too. You can feel bad for whatever turmoil they have in their lives, but that doesn’t mean that you should start liking their work out of pity. I feel bad for happened to Rihanna too, but it doesn’t change the fact that she lacks musical talent, and therefore I can’t ever buy an album of hers, pay to see her live or even root for her success. I wish her nothing but happiness in her personal life, however I also wish that she would find a career that she’s actually good at, and be deservingly successful at it. Singing is not it. I think that is what people have a problem with, the fact that she isn’t good at what she does, yet she gets farther ahead than those who are more talented than her. Nobody specifically blames her for it, it’s the fault of the people (namely Jay-Z) that discovered her and signed her. And don’t assume that it’s only Chris Brown fans that don’t like her. Many people, including myself, aren’t fans of his either. That does not stop us from not being fans of Rihanna.

Her success should be accredited to her producers, songwriters, image-makers and marketing team. And what part of we do not blame Rihanna do you not understand? I said it’s the RECORD LABELS who choose to sign attractive but untalented girls that they can easily mold into whatever marketable image. They’re not gonna sign talented people with backbone because they’re not gonna put up with being told how to make their music and how to sell themselves. Take Kelly Clarkson for example. She’s a talented girl, and one who doesn’t to be molded into something she’s not. As a result, she’s been battling with her label over creative control. They want to make her into another pop star, she wants to be something deeper than that.

Exactly! I did not like Rihanna before she got hit and I still don’t like her now. Is their a reason why I should? What happened to her is none of my business and it was horrible but I will NOT be a pity fan. There are victiums getting 10 times worse that I could focus on. The fact that she did one interview before her album talking about what happened and that the only other times she talks about the situation seems to be when she has something to promote is what gets me. That number 1 with Eminem and her singing about abuse makes me sick. This girl done made money off of domestic violence. She need to sit down. She hasn’t to my knowledge helped these victiums by donating or visiting a shelter but she will sing a song about it with a hot rapper for sales. When things are looking dry Def Jam tells her to milk that cow for all its got.

Why is this news? Why is TGJ always posting stuff that was said a week ago? I used to come to this site because it WAS truly about the music now its just about Rihanna and comparing her to artists (i.e. Ciara, Kelly Rowland, Janelle Monae etc.) who haven’t even experienced HALF the success she has in just five years. Not a fan but geesh, she does what she does well. I also really like her voice, its different and she has pretty good range. This is coming from a vocal coach of 17 years! False…I Clearly stated other reasons as to why I liked Rihanna (reading is fundamental).
The statement I made about me liking her because she was abused was taken out of context.
What I meant to say was I could relate to her situation…all the things she went through, and how she explained it, and handled it reminded me of how my mother handled it (where emotions take over rational thought). She did, and said things that didn’t make sense at the time, but under those circumstances I could empathize with her.
She finally got through it, and became a stronger person….thats what I meant babes.
I also stated I was a fashion major, and that she inspires me (fashion wise)…Please go back and actually read my posts, please don’t skim through it, and only read what you want to (if thats what you are doing), if not, then ask me what i meant instead of accusing me of something that was totally taken out of context, and/or you couldn’t comprehend.

I said it before, I’ll say it again, Rihanna has been the biggest disappointment, yet-seen in modern-day Pop-Music!!! …Never before had an “artist” been given the resources and adoring public sentiment, leading up to their-work’s release, and never before had said “great expectations” produced such “bitter disappointment!!” (Cue the images of that Skier falling down snow covered mountain) <– The (thrill of victory) AGONY OF DEFEAT..!!!
… Kind-innocent-Rihanna; Victim-Rihanna; Fawnlike-Little Red Riding Hood-Rhianna getting mistreated/abused/manhandled by big-bad monster-like CBreezy! … 8-Million watched that very-same 20/20 interview and-THEN what happened? …Zero, that's what happened! Absolutely NOTHING! I'll say again, "NEVER-before had was an artist given the resources and public sentiment, Rihanna was, and never-before, had an Artist failed so-miserably to deliver-on/capitalize-on said-advantage!"
There is NO explanation you can give that'll account for her, having to sell, her CD for $0.99, and THEN-having to cancel her concerts/poor ticket-sales …?? In the decades to come, Rihanna/Brand-Rihanna will be remembered,studied and analyzed for it's squandering of what can only be called a "once-in-a-lifetime opportunity!!!"

When Robyn Fenty’s commercial comes out I’m leaving a post by every Doritos stand where they are being sold, I am letting every one know that these are a demonic chip for sure if Robyn Fenty is going to be their spokes person.
As soon as I see the commercial I will post how I am getting the word out about Doritos so you guys can do the same. I am also sending out a memo to every big church in my state because I know the bigger churches will twinkle down the message to the smaller churches in their memo.
I never looked at Doritos of being evil but now I do, they are trying to angle the pitch to the younger crowed. when I get throw they will be burning Doritos and demanding for them to be ousted from out of our stores.
I’m going to be starting that boycott real soon on Doritos.

I don’t think people hate Rihanna personally. I think they hate the fact that her voice is mediocre and gets by with it while other artists who can really sing, write , produce etc have to struggle so hard to make it big.

^^^ Major labels who would rather sign girls that have no talent but have plenty of s** appeal to sell are why Rihanna is successful. People who have real talent but don’t fit into the mold of the marketable pop star can’t make it when the masses prefer to buy image over talent and originality. And before you answer me with “well she must be doing something right if she can have 7 #1s and a couple of Grammys”, keep in mind that Milli Vanilli were mad popular too once, and that only ended when people found it that it wasn’t their voices they heard on the records they bought. That was in the early 90s, when people still had standards. I’m pretty sure that had it happened today, few people would care and idiots would still buy their albums and pay to see them in concert.

If you admire her style, fine. If you feel bad for what happened to her, that’s a good thing. But neither are acceptable reasons to be a fan of hers. Do you genuinely like at least most of her music? Do you like her musical style, her voice, her performances? Do you like her as an artist? If not, then your reasons for liking her are very shallow. You can admire someone’s personal style without liking their work, I do too. You can feel bad for whatever turmoil they have in their lives, but that doesn’t mean that you should start liking their work out of pity. I feel bad for happened to Rihanna too, but it doesn’t change the fact that she lacks musical talent, and therefore I can’t ever buy an album of hers, pay to see her live or even root for her success. I wish her nothing but happiness in her personal life, however I also wish that she would find a career that she’s actually good at, and be deservingly successful at it. Singing is not it. I think that is what people have a problem with, the fact that she isn’t good at what she does, yet she gets farther ahead than those who are more talented than her. Nobody specifically blames her for it, it’s the fault of the people (namely Jay-Z) that discovered her and signed her. And don’t assume that it’s only Chris Brown fans that don’t like her. Many people, including myself, aren’t fans of his either. That does not stop us from not being fans of Rihanna.

Not to be rude sweetheart, but you are being the true definition of a hypocrite right now. As I remember correctly, you were in the last Chris brown post calling him everything but a child of God. You want people to be civilized when it comes to Rihanna, but you don’t seem to mind bashing Chris. To make a long story short, you get served what you dish out. Do me a favor, and practice what you preach. I have nothing against Rihanna. I just feel like she should have a modeling contract, rather than a singing contract, because i feel she can’t sing what so ever. But thats my opinion. I can give my opinion without being disrespectful, and you should try doing the same when it comes to Chris. Just a thought…

I read sandra rose all the time and she has never said anything positive about cb before or after the incident but I still thinks some of the jokes are funny and I’m TEAMBREEZY learn to laugh st yourself sometimes

No one is saying that you should go to other posts and leave hateful comments rather the question is why aren’t you in other posts preaching all of which you have preached in this post about negativity? The negativity goes far beyond the Rihanna posts. Negativity is in EVERY POST not just among Rihanna non-fans or CB fans. It’s just making you look less credible when you preach of such “positivity” in ONLY Rihanna posts towards her non-fans. Also Rihanna fans don’t attack me (duh), so i don’t feel a dislike towards me from them, because I happen listen to Rihanna, and like her style…..they also share my fondness for her. People learn through actions…and hopefully more Rihanna stans will incorporate some of my understanding, patients, and accountability.

Just because Rihanna fans/stans have the same interest in Rihanna as you do doesn’t mean that they are any less negative towards others who dislike Rihanna. If you’re gonna be a “positivity advocate” then do so in EVERY post that spews negativity. I did not see the access Hollywood interview, but why is she not promoting her tour. At first I thought her tour was cancelled because I wasn’t hearing anything about it. The only tour I hear about is Gaga, Taylor Swift and Justin Beiber and others and how successful they were doing. Rihanna has a lot of pride, and I think she is embarassed that her tour isn’t doing so well, that’s why she is making all these excuses, and acting like she doesn’t care. She is successful, but she isn’t as successful as you fans make her out to be. Fans keep saying she is only 22, but Taylor Swift, Miley, and Justin Beiber are much younger than her, and look at the massive success that they’ve achieved. Successful albums, successful tours and making the Forbes list, now that’s impressive. What Rihanna has accomplished is not impressive. I am sure Rihanna would give up those #’1’s to have another successful album, because she’s only had one successful album out of the four she’s released, not impressive, but she is still doing well.
But do you think ‘Riho, goat, bytch, etc’ care?????. No – she has a lot going on in her life and a lot of love to give. So sorry guys she don’t have the time and energy for you.

I highly doubt you’re a vocal coach. If Rihanna really does have a vocal range of 3.4, then it means that range means absolutely nothing when it comes to singing ability. Freddie Mercury was a 3.5 (or something near that), by technical standards that would mean he was only a slightly better singer than Rihanna. Yet anyone who isn’t tone deaf knows he could sing her under the table on his worst day.
