Having convinced many that she’s a credible singer, Rihanna is now set to flex her already-impressive acting muscles on the big screen. Indeed, the vocal atrocity is set to make her movie debut in the film adaptation of Hasbro board-game ‘Battleship’.

Rihanna is not the most technical vocalist and she’s can’t beast it like the B’s (Brandy and Beyonce) but she can sing and sing pretty well, she has a unique vocal accent and for that she’s in a lane all her own. There are a lot of people that dig that and that’s why she remains relevant where others who are less unique in their field have faded out.
She’ll probably do a worse job than Master P :).

How can someone who is borderline illiterate who doesn’t have a high school diploma or even a GED even think that they can act? Ridiculous. When she did that interview and said that Brown said things to make her feel “lesser”, I knew we weren’t dealing with the sharpest blade on the lawn.
Acting, like singing, is a craft. People with successful and long careers and solid tour records constantly work on perfecting their craft. This girl is headlining a tour and I have yet to see footage of her actually rehearsing. She just thinks her image is going to keep her relevant. Even Beyonce, who can actually sing, is a TERRIBLE actress. There are few who successfully made the transition, and sadly, Rihanna won’t be one of them. By 2012, she will be replaced by the next “it” girl.

I’m honestly surprised it took her this long to get into acting. I guess cause her team has been so busy shoveling out albums every other year. I do remember she had a lil cameo in that Bring it On movie. She didn’t exactly shine in that film but she fit right in cause all the actors in that movie were horrible. Hopefully she got a acting coach since then.
It’s no doubt she got the role on her ‘status’ and not her acting abilities cause she doesn’t have an extended acting resume. I am sure they cast her cause she is the ‘it’ girl right now and they believe she will bring in an audience. But who know if she will be the ‘it’ girl 2 years from now. I am sure they will have her in some lil shorts or a tight spandex outfit for her role so people will pay attention to her body and not her acting. They know how to sell her well.
I am a lil sick of the super hero movies though. I think they have been overdone. Plus Hancock was a really bad movie. It sounds cheesy as hell but I will try to reserve judgement until I hear more about the film.

J.Lo’s career high lasted five years… and she was far more successful and relevant in that time than Rihanna ever was in the past five years. Not to mention her prior success with Destiny’s Child, which goes back all the way to her teens.
