Dr. Dre is doubling down on artificial intelligence, and Ice Cube has questions.
The producer discusses the technology on the premiere of ‘Listen & Laugh’, the new podcast Cube hosts with Mike Epps.
Full story below…
The episode, released November 6, arrives after Dre revealed in August that he was experimenting with AI in the studio.
His enthusiasm extends to both music and film. He said:
“I am extremely excited about AI, I love it.
I love the potential of it, I love the idea of where it could possibly go with music and film.”
He continued:
“What happens if someone says I’m gonna pay you to be in my movie, you don’t have to be there, but you get to approve what they do. It’s your image and voice. What’s wrong with that? It’s just a whole new level of creativity. I think the only people who are going to be mad about AI are people that aren’t that creative”

Dre’s earlier disclosure concerned using AI to explore material he had already made. He compared technological change in music to the introduction of drum machines and synthesizers.
The discussion is part of a wider debut conversation about his career and working methods. As That Grape Juice previously reported, the hosts unveiled their porch-set podcast earlier this month.
