Chris Brown Talks New Album

Published: Wednesday 4th Aug 2010 by Sam

The lingering drama surrounding Chris Brown saw his last LP ‘Graffiti’ perform poorly upon its release last November.  Not one to be deterred, Brown is hard away at work on his next studio album – which he recently updated fans on…

Full story below…

Speaking on Twitter, the 21 year old said:

“My new album will come next year or sooner” he confirms “but in the meantime, ‘I MIGHT’ do something special for yall again!!!

It’s great to see Chris pressing on with his career – which has been looking all-the-more-brighter these days. What’s more, having already clocked up studio time with the likes of Drake, Usher, Keyshia Cole, and producer Los Da Mystro (‘Sing Like Me’), the album – if only paper – already looks like a winner. Can’t wait.

Tidbit: Two of the US’s biggest radio stations, Hot 97 and Power 105 added his single ‘Deuces’ today.

When everyone else sees the worst in you…GOD sees the best in you…And when the world is unkind and against you…GOD is for you and will be your comforter in your time of need…keep doing what you were put on this earth to do….don’t let one wrong decision stop you from accomplishing your goals…learn from your mistakes and keep on pressing on….Keep GOD first…don’t worry about your haters…let GOD take care of them.

  15. Fred August 4, 2010

I didnt like the background music on the songs for Graffiti **cough** Swiss Beats **cough**,
also the lyrics were depressing, its a recession people dont want to hear depressing crap right now or I dont. I bought the album for support but its collecting dust in a box somewhere.

I hope he goes back to his old sound, Chris’s voice is gorgeous but if the beats in the background suck and the lyrics to the song are lame its not gonna matter how good his voice is.

  18. VA STAND UP!!! August 4, 2010

Awww. I love the comments in here. Such positivity.

I agree. ‘Graffiti’ was extremely underated. I do wish that they had pushed it more. But unlike before with his previous albums, he couldn’t really promote it. Talk shows, morning shows and award shows weren’t welcoming him. Besides his twitter and some urban blogs

I honestly think that if he released that album without a scandal, then it would have done fine. It wasn’t a bad album at all. He had club bangers on there such as ‘What I do’ and ‘Wait’ , nice ballads such as ‘Crawl’ and ‘ I Need This’, great r&b songs such as ‘Movie’ and ‘Famous Girl’ to just cute catchy songs such as ‘Sing Like Me’ and ‘Brown Skin Girl’. It was an extremely radio friendly album that got ignored due to his scandl. I can’t remember one review that didn’t reference the ‘incident’. Rolling Stone was the worst. Rih’s name was in every paragraph of the review. It was so annoying.

Well I am certainly more than excited about his new album! I am so glad he didn’t let the failure of his last album keep him down. He stayed on his grind released two bomb ass mixtapes. Expectations for his new album are high! He cannot disappoint!

I hope that the album is a bit like his mixtapes mixed with a bit of pop. I wouldn’t mind hearing a sound like ‘Forever’ on it. I really wish he had kept songs like ‘Geroimo’ and “Glow in the Dark’ for his album. Those are great records that should get album treatment. I guess we will just have to wait and see.

  19. Renae August 4, 2010

i can’t wait for the new album congrats on the new movie. i’m glad your moving on with life

  20. VA STAND UP!!! August 4, 2010

@Fame: It’s so nice to hear that coming from a Rih stan.

@Fred: Damn! Tell me how you really feel. There were some more upbeat songs on ‘Graffiti’ too. You must not have the deluxe version. Take it out of the box and give it a listen.

@Lioness: I heard the ‘Ur Love’ remix this morning. I kinda like it. I am just sick to death of autotune and all the sexually explicit songs. There are more things to sing about that just taking a girl home and what he wants to ‘do’ to her. I also wish he chill out with the rapping. JMO.

Anyway, I am really looking forward to his new album and movie at the end of the month. Can’t wait! Team Breezy till the day I die!

  24. bobs August 4, 2010

Didn’t he get the memo after his last FLOPZILLA that no one cares? What a waste of plastic and paper. He should just sell copies of it on demand…. or post it on his facebook page for free – cuz no one cares.

  25. JAZ0195 August 4, 2010

I can’t wait for the new album graffiti was so underrated

  34. smartee August 4, 2010

I think it was a bad time for him to release his album last November. He should have just stuck to doing business in Italy, France, and all of the other European countries he visited last year! I heard he was working on some fashion line or something in Milan. His promotion was horrible for “Graffiti.” I can’t believe he was naive enough to listen to his promo team/management. Instead of focusing on the music, they focused on his personal life when they should have just left it alone. We didn’t want to hear about that, we wanted to hear his music. He needs a better publicist because we barely saw him in any magazines or performing on big time TV shows. And he had a small tour, but he should have had a bigger one with much more hype surrounding it.

@VA stand up Im a Chris Brown fan(note NOT STAN) I do have the deluxe version. I loved the lyrics to Crawl hated the instrumental on it, same with all the songs on the album.

It was either really good lyrics sucky instrumental or depressing lyrics sucky instrumental, or about s** actually movie had good instrumental Im just not into s** songs

In my Zone had great instrumentals BUT ghetto hood lyrics and all about s**
Fan of a Fan Im not crazy about Tyga’s rapping I am old school on the rap, I think Chris’s rapping is good but his voice is too high for it, instrumental was awesome though.

I will just be happy if Chris comes out with some music with good lyrics with no overkill on the depression and good instrumentals Im sure he will come up with something good that I will enjoy he did in the past I dont see why he cant now, just waiting patiently. 🙂

  37. smartee August 4, 2010

… continue, but things are brighter now and a lot of people are anticipating his new music. He better bring the heat especially with the dancing and upbeat music. I love “Deuces” and “No Bullsh*t” so hopefully his music for his new album is on a higher level than that.

  38. anniemal! August 4, 2010

    i’m sooo excited!! 😀
i hope this next album is more like ‘Exclusive’ or even his first album cause as a Chris Brown STAN i honestly thought ‘Graffiti’ was a hot mess; it was TERRIBLE (only liked like 3 songs).

anyway the anticipation is killing me! hopefully he releases a mixtape in the meantime♥.

  39. keepingitreal August 4, 2010

@Fred i dare to disagree with you. YOU ARE NOT A TRUE FAN. That is all

  40. Lady Gaga’s Invisble Twin Marty August 4, 2010

If he puts out the same kinda music that was on his mixtapes, I would buy that album. But I doubt he would do that if he wants to go back to being more of a mainstream artist.

  41. ~TeAM WeeZY~ August 4, 2010

YASSSS! I am SUPER excited about his new album!

I didn’t really like “Graffiti.” I liked a few songs, but as a whole album, I wasn’t feeling it. However, his mixtapes were FIYAH! I LOVE them damn mixtapes! I hope he goes that route with his new album, just with more mainstream music and less sexually explicit lyrics/less profanity. I think he raps pretty good, but I don’t think it would fit well on an album as it did on the mixtapes.

And I agree with @Fred about the Swizz Beats productions. I never liked much of his work aside from a few (Drake’s “Fancy”). I think he is very overrated and I hope CB doesn’t use much of his production on the new album.

  42. I and I (yardie style) August 4, 2010

New music from Cbreezy is always welcomed. I can’t wait! “Grafitti” & “In My Zone” stays on repeat. Glow in the Dark and I’ll Go are my favourites. I think I am now borderline fan/stan. More CB please LOL

  43. UmYa August 4, 2010

Don’t wane be the Debbie Dower here but if this album flops will he be dropped ?
Come to think he’s signed to JIVE and they’re not known for dropping artist , more like supporting them when things are o the up or leaving them to fend for themselves when things go south [see Ciara; Fantasy Ride]
Hope he can make a comeback though…..just don’t make another crap album like Graffiti go back to the Exclusive days.

  44. Myway August 4, 2010

Okay TGJ why do you keep having fake @ss polls about Chris Brown? You asked about his tatts which are no one’s business now you throwing shade at his next studio CD. What’s up with that? Cut it out. I don’t remember you asking if we were checking for Eminem’s new CD in spite of the fact he BEAT HIS WIFE KIM many times and is obviously on DRUGS!

Anywho, I LOVE CHRIS BROWN! Love, Graffiti it was a well-crafted and performed CD. For those losers on this and other sites talking bad about it, stop being so caught up in media bullsh** and enjoy music for yourselves. If you actually took the time to purchase and listen to the CD you would have loved it too!

  45. A August 4, 2010

    ————————————————–
Agreed. Make a mistake once…its life…do it twice and you’re just stupid. But I have faith and Chris to do the right thing.

I actually liked Graffiiti. But I think I like Exclusive out of all his albums more. Graffiti wasn’t promoted he only really went on TV once to promote it and that was after its release on 106. This time around I think he’ll be able to do a better job promoting it(I only saw the commercial for it once on TV if I wasnt such a fan I wouldnt have known about it) and I think it will do better in sales. Two reasons I think Graffiti was a nice album but didn’t perform well is because 1.His situation 2. Instead of more upbeat music and videos relead(beside ICTY) we heard a sad Chris and to be honest as much as people liked him or not they rather have a dance record they didn’t wanna hear about him crawling back to that girl(notice why when he sings about DEUCES it does better but I think all his music is good).

This next album should leave the past in the past and I know the music will be hot….just no rapping from Chris on it though…although he can rap better than the likes or Soulja Boy and Gucci lets not do that lol. Can’t wait! And YES! For Deuces being added to two of the biggest radio stations! He is making alot more progress!

  53. JAZ0195 August 4, 2010

for the future commenters Ignore the fool don’t give it an attention because it will only bring negative energy to this post this is positive news for both chris and people who like him

  54. Myway August 4, 2010

    @smartee,

It was not Chris Brown’s promotional team focusing on that past issue; it was the fake and very controlled American media which appears to serve as a hub for the rest of the “free thinking” world! They decided to drone on and on about that situation. He and his team really just wanted to get on with the business of promoting Graffiti, a fabulous CD in my humble opinion!

I do agree that he should have focused on the rest of Europe & the world, where he has had great success. If the UK is being “bitchie” about him coming and performing for his many loyal fans there then he should have just moved on the France, Italy, Ireland, Australia, Africa, etc. Maybe by the time he finished touring in the other countries things could have been resolved in the UK such that he could have made that his last stop before returning home. Just my thoughts!

    Waves to @VA Stand Up

First of all, S/O to Sam & Trent for just giving Breezy fans a place to discuss positive things occurring in Chris’ career.

I’m glad Chris will release a new album next year. It will be interesting to see how Chris will marry his older style of music with his newer style. I hope to hear a happy medium of an older Chris but also some remnants of his previous work. This album should be majority R&B with a few pop songs because the “urban” audience has mostly embraced Chris back. No more Euro-pop stuff…if he couldn’t put out those types of songs from Graffiti, why do more songs?

I’m still selfishly mourning “Graffiti”…there are so many good songs (I’ll Go, Movie, Brown Skin Girl, Sing Like Me, Pass Out) and when Chris asked who wanted an In My Zone 2, I responded I would prefer an acoustic version of some songs from Graffiti. If he does release another mixtape, do it at least 4 months before the new album. His fans have to be starved to hear his new music.

  57. Geronimo Deuces August 4, 2010

  61. Zam Zhinga August 4, 2010

I think the guy deserves another chance to pick his career up. Graffiti was pretty good from what I heard, and the mixtape stuff was good too. SO hopefully his fans will still be checkin for him. And I hope he has learned a valuable lesson in self control and humility after all of this. Most artistic people do have their fair share of demons. But it takes a mature focused individual to not let these demons consume you. So good luck on the new CD. “Transform’ you was my jam for a minute. He should focus on self development and his career so he can get back on track. He IS still a youngster, so he has room to grow and make mistakes and learn from them.

I try to ignore the haters with their BS comments, but they are just so pathetic sometimes it’s sickening. WTF is it with the ‘fat’ stuff. How in the hell can you look at that boy with his chicken legs and call him fat?? I can’t wait till Chris next album drops. The industry really railroaded his album Grafitti. It was indeed Chris’s best album. I’ll go was one of my favorites track on the Grafitti Cd. That song both me to tears. I’m a true supporter of greatest and Chris Brown is the number 1 entertainer of greatest in the music industry.
