J.Cole is very different in his approach to hip hop …I like that about him, gives him an edge that makes you take him seriously because he seems serious about his craft, and his lyrics are well thought out and dope! Much success to him!

on the other hand “rising icons” as a name for a show? Its almost a jinx or a joke … BET please do better!

^^^^^^ Thank YOU. ‘Rising Icons’ …… really? stupid s***. In 5 yrs 95 percent won’t even be found….. anywhere

It’s really nice to see someone rap about someting other than money and effin every girl in the world.

he comes across as artist who is really dedicated to his craft and legacy.
hope he is embraced by the mainstream and album does well sales wise.
as it will no doubt prove further that people are hungry for some real hiphop and not the trash that pollutes the radio.

I like him! His raps are good and he’s cute. I think he will last.

I HEART him. Hes an amazing talent, and he also has a unique style. He stands out, and thats what I love about him 🙂

Don’t hope he does well sales wise, go out and support the music because trust me, these wack rappers who sell albums fans actually buy their music. It’s good to see that J Cole isn’t whoring himself out either like Drake did and over extending himself.

Okay whatever! I think that he’s actually talented but these ridiculous titles of rising “ICONs” and “LEDGENDs” is really getting on my nerves! Anyone can be a “SUPERSTAR” and have songs on the POP CHARTS. It really does not reflect on the significance of the artist or their capability just who the artist is attached to. J. Cole is under Jay-Z. Okay, he is a rising icon….ehh whatever!

  9. KRS088 August 29, 2010

He under Jay-Z Def Jam label well I know I will not be buying none of his songs. But I must say his sound is good

This guy is the truth no doubt about that. & ignorant fools like @KRS088 get me so mad!

J.Cole is the TRUTH! He’s so amazing and unique in his own way. I think he has his own style and that’s hard to do when there are so many other rappers in the game currently.

Rising Icon? Idk about that. I mean the people who’ve been on this show in the past were even less likely to be icons as well. i.e. The Dream, Keri Hilson, Wale (even though I love him), etc.

If you haven’t heard his music your missing out on some real and good music. We need more artist like J.Cole on mainstream, he raps about whats real and he has a unique style. Keep up the hard work Cole and you will definitely succeed.

  13. LEEK August 30, 2010

    J. Cole is fire without a doubt, but f*** a mainstream. With all avenues an artist can go down, signing to a major is the worst thing a rapper can do. J. Cole is signed to RocNation/Atlantic, Atlantic Records still have not dropped Lupe Fiasco’s “Lasers”, Young Dro’s “P.O.L.O.”, Saigon walked away because they were f****** up his “Greatest Story Never Told”.

In today’s climate it’s best if an artist is independent, f*** radio and their BDS SPINS and f*** a major with their 360 DEALS.

He seems to be a very positive brother,I wish him much success.

I like J Cole a lot because he is really insightful!

All his music is saying something. It’s more than just a punchline or saying something clever. He is educated and smart. Very respectable.

I wish him all the success in his future!
