Trey Songz’s new video for ‘Bottoms Up’ has just premiered. The production was overseen by Anthony Mandler and features Nicki Minaj. Check out all the action below:
Although this video is basically a combination of Usher’s ‘OMG’ and ‘Lil Freak’ productions, there is no doubt that this is one of the best videos released by Songz to date. The editing was on point and it went in a completely different direction that the obvious club scene.
However, despite his claims that this video would have taken a new direction than his previous works, the only thing different from some of his recent clips is that he managed to keep his clothes on and got everyone else half naked instead. Then again, what did we expect? There is only so much that Mandler could have done with the limited, one-track mind that defines Songz’s desperate attempt to prove his masculinity.

Um, I was expecting a WHOLE lot more out of this video. I don’t think it did much for the song itself. I mean I don’t get it? Why do artists make club videos for no reason, but then when the club scenes are ACTUALLY needed for a song, it doesn’t happen? I think their should have been more ACTUAL DRINKING in a club, hence ‘Bottoms up.’ I FOR SURE thought that Nicki was gonna have at least 4 or 5 scenes in different outfits acting a complete ass (drunk). Soon as I saw Anthony Mandler’s name attached to this, I knew it was going to be some dark “Disturbia” type ish. And I was right. He’s the dark director. Every video he does looks like this. But its so unnecessary. This video does not fit the song at all. And usually when it doesn’t, there’s something else going on behind the scenes.
Trey needs to have a seat. And Nicki needs to rap for once instead of doing different animated voices.
They should have put an epileptic warning on this before watching, someone is gonna hit the floor with a seizure. This song is horrible, and the video is just too weird for me.
